We're just starting to get to know our new town and really explore what San Diego has to offer. Last night, I came across a shop in North Park I just loved called Pigment. This home & garden decor shop has a great mix of stationery, petite planting vessels, and jewelry…all very much nature and outdoor inspired. For those of you not in SD, they also have an online shop! LOVE the hanging terrariums in the windows…I'd have a wall full of these if I could! {see a few more photos here}
I’ve been dying to make it over there – it used to be the Kate Ross shoe store (with some cool home stuff too) and switched over a while ago. I love the hanging orbs too!
That was fast! I knew it wouldn’t take you long to find your niche 😉
OMG.
Fantastic – so modern and chic. I live in Des Moines, Iowa so we dont see a ton of that kind of shop here!
hi joy. i grew up in the ‘burbs of philly, and currently live in the city (near the italian market). but, i lived in san diego for a year, after graduating from college (about 7 years ago). i thought i’d tip you off to the Cedros Design District in Solana Beach. I loved it there. amazing jewelry, clothes, shoes, and all around design!! i fell in love with this store: SoLo http://www.solocedros.com/index.htm
i’m sure you’ll enjoy it. it’s like a little west coast anthro/terrain situation.
anyhow, enjoy!! the weather’s always perfect!!
I never make it to North Park to do any shopping…I might have to get over there…

i used to live in san diego, you must check out the little italy area. there is a great store there called india ink and another yummy candle shop called cathedral.
Oh my! I want to visit…
I second little Italy – and if you want a shopping buddy, let’s get in touch! There’s a great homewares store there…can’t remember the name. Its actually in Mission Hills, but on the same street as everything else is — India — so I always stop in.
And in Little Italy – its a must to stop in for gelato too!
so gorgeous!!! what a beautiful place — and so “joy” 🙂
I’ve been in SD for about a year now and one of my favorite shops is architectural salvage sd. It’s a great resource for DIY projects or funky finds…
amazing photo! it looks like big fat raindrops falling under a street light. what a fun place, the biospheres look so wonderful.
make sure to go down to north of little italy! there are a done of really cool vintage shops and my favorite architectural salvage. amazing, and the seaside paper in coronado
Welcome to San Diego! Pigment is indeed a lovely shop. If you ever need a haircut, go to Sarah Renne at Disconnected Salon directly across the street from Pigment. 🙂
So that place is right next to my dance studio and I somehow neglected to see it.(?!) Wow, I really need to explore my city more.
the groovy orb terrariums in the window are by san diego artist brit neubacher,

i used to go to this store all the time! i think it used to be called kate ross. they have a sister clothes boutique off of university.
Congrats on the Move! Welcome to Cali… I’m all the way up in SF but I’m a California Girl through and through. I grew up in Coronado and San Diego.
Love that shot. Have fun exploring your new home.
oo..you’re in San Diego..so am I …in Burlingame…So Park/North Park divide..Welcome to the ‘hood. I love it here..ex Bay Area girl..but now this is my home..you’re going to love it!
You found my favorite shop! Right next to my favorite brunch and my favorite bar! I always have to spend at least five minutes staring at those terrariums when I walk by!
If you head down to Cedros Ave in Solana Beach, please make sure to stop into Chicweed and say ‘Hi’. We’re big fans of yours!
Welcome to San Diego!!! I must be among people like me because I also dance at Eveoke and missed that shop, I also LOVE The Mission for brunch (try the blackberry banana pancakes) and I’m a huge Architectural Salvage (Kettner and Laurel) fan. Looking forward to finding more great places I’ve managed to miss on your blog!
North Park, huh? I’ll have to swing by!
