The other day, someone asked me a question on Formspring about nail polish, so I thought it would be fun to see what your favorite colors are. My short nails are almost always covered in a red/coral/peachy shade of sorts. I love Essie's Cute as a Button as well as Revlon's Craving Coral and Tropical Temptation. I am dying to try Happy Birthday {a multi-color glitter} by Deborah Lippmann, a favorite of the Ban.do girls, as well as Wayward {taxi cab yellow} by Illamasqua which looks fab on Mrs. Lilien. What are your standby shades?

My fingers are almost always (boringly) clear polish. But my toes are always fire engine red!! It just makes me happy to have red toesies 🙂
Stand by fave right now is Essie’s Rock Candy, a conservative pale pink for hands, and new fave for toes is Chanel’s Particuleur a taupish gray lilac.
MOST definitely OPI’s “You Don’t Know Jacques!”..a warm gray that matches eevverything
I really like OPI’s “Grand Canyon Sunset” right now. It’s a great, dark, dusty pink.
Is this your paw?? Gorgey ring! I have wee hands reminiscent of circus folk, so I had always downplayed the small nail portion with a tasteful peach or some sort. THEN I discovered OPI Russion Navy, and I haven’t looked back.
I love OPI Green-wich Village. Love it.
Darling – we mustn’t overlook a juicy shade of orange, such as Bright Tights – it’s like candy for the nails! And… ps, have you been hiding that cocktail ring from me – it’s TDF??!!! Love!
Always, always, always OPI Lincoln Park After Dark! My toes always love a dark purple that is not quite black, they look so sleek!
Nothing beats the winter blues like a bright, sunny nail color. I love all of Essie’s bright pinks and reds.
so cute! Miss V wears the same color for her little toes. 😀
OPI’s Russian Navy. It’s a deep deep blue that’s so much more alluring than black.

oh, it’s definitely pink for me. pink all the way!!
my mission for next polish is to try out Mint by Essie! Gorgeous!

Oh how fun! It was me who asked you about your nail polish! I’m so happy to say that all week, since you answered my questions, I’ve been sporting a gorgeous shade of cherry red. I picked up a bottle at my local Target for a couple bucks, and it’s definitely worth the investment!
I snapped a picture just now and posted it up on my Snappy Blonde blog (which is a blog all about my photos I take with my iPhone, so silly).
Thanks for answering my Q!
Oooh yeah…my Snappy Blonde URL is http://snappyblonde.wordpress.com/
So pretty! I had hot pink on for Valentine’s day, but it chipped so quickly that I had to take it off after only a few days. Love your engagement ring, mine is nearly identical 🙂
I’m all over the place. I don’t have a signature color. I am loving this Sally Hansen’s color that I picked up called Black Platinum, but it’s more like a super dark navy blue. I also like orange-red shades to nudes.
i love coral, too! they make me look like i have tan little hands. glad to see i’m not the only one who keeps their nails super short…
by the way, is that a banana republic ring? i swear i just tried it on in pink the other day.
I have been searching for a good “Mint” nail color! The one I’m wearing right now has too much of a lime tint. Much too “Glow in the Dark” looking. Thanks for the rec on the Essie Mint!
I love that ring. It is amazing. I am green with envy. Where did you get it?
First, gorgeous rings! Second, I love OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and Essie’s Wicked for darks; Essie’s Marshmallow and the other pinky/light shade I like for light is escaping me! lol
I also love coral/ warm reds. my favorite is cajun shrimp by OPI, on my second bottle!
I have Happy Birthday! I love it. Only bad thing is that it is difficult to get all of the glitter off when you use polish remover.
i love your wedding ring!
I used to be a red-polish only girl, and my favorite was Essie’s Macks, which is a blood red halfway between dark and bright. I’ve branched out a bit to Essie’s Chinchilly, a warm gray. It’s the perfect neutral, and I get compliments all the time!
I used to always have coral, pink or red, until I started working as a nanny – then i switched to a boring clear, because you can’t tell if they chip quickly.
I just had my nails painted with OPI’s “Off With Her Red” from their Alice line. SO GOOD. It’s this orangey-red, looks fab.
I went through a copper nail polish ONLY phase in high school after I met a surf instructor named Lars in Santa Cruz who said he loved it when girls wore that shade. (!!!)
i stick to peaches and reds, but right now i’m wearing OPI barefoot in barcelona, which is a beige, which I don’t hate. I’ve experimented with dark green this winter too.
i’m a big nail polish lover
I have the Gold Leaf and Utility polishes from Rococo (available here: http://www.spacenk.com/category/shop+by+brand/rococo.do).
They have a silver one (on p. 3) called Molten Lava that’s fun too. The colors don’t show up well online, but if you can find them in a store, I think you’d be pleased with the funky selection (LOVING the look of the Happy Birthday polish, by the way).
my favorites these days are from OPI for Sephora…i currently have Metro Chic (dark smoke with a hint of purple) on my toes and just picked up On Stage (grey plum) which is a bit brighter, but still kinda dark and sophisticated… and for brighter moods, i have Domestic Goddess (bright grape)…
but i’m kinda intrigued by… 212-Sephora (smoky black with iridescent, gold and copper glitter)… i guess this is sort of along the lines of Happy Birthday except with a smoky black base
I am a coral lover too and just bought “Melon Of Troy” by OPI. I have it on my toes and it makes me dream of summer : )
haha just did a post bout this =]
http://postcardsfromdreamland.blogspot.com/2010/02/pastel-nails.html
so these would have to be the colors i’m leaning towards! lots of pastel colors to get me ready for spring and warm (but still chilly enough for sweaters) weather!! =]
I’m really into greens at the moment… BarryM’s Mint Green is lovely for the summer another fav is Acid Yellow-slightly more daring but very fresh! My nails are mint at the moment…i love coloured nails 🙂
i love essie nail polish in anything red, but i’m currently wearing material girl. 🙂
Can someone please source that fab cocktail ring? To die for!
I love the coral colour, it makes me want to paint sea shells.
but of course, I only wear a very red shade of quick drying nail polish. Lots to do!
I am currently in obsessed with OPI’s Russian Navy, a super-dark purple-navy, but for a pop of colour I love Essie’s Short Shorts (flouro pink), OPI’s Florentine Fuschia (cherry pink/red). But the one colour I keep going back to: Chanel’s Rouge Noir.
all or nothing, nude, or vamp(a rich berry, almost black)
awww yes i am one who likes my finger nails short also. i wish they were painted more offten though. im not the best at painting them 🙁 i love Essie nailpolish. it looks like jelly when its on my nails love it! i would have to agree my favorite color from them would have to be the mint color. i have it and it is just beautiful.
revlon “vixen” and chanel “particuliere”
♡ nailpolish, it’s sooooo F-U-N! 🙂
modGIRL
OPI’s St. Petersburgandy. It’s dark red in some lights and candy red in others.
I don’t have standby shades… I go from pink to green… it goes with my mood… I really like to do my nails and I take my time 😉

btw, nice ring!
xx,
A.
I used to only ever do classic red or light pink or beige, but I’ve been getting more and more adventurous. Right now my favorite color varies between a dark purple I got from my local Aveda salon and OPI’s I’m Not Really a Waitress. Plus every so often I’ll wear a dark sparkly green in honor of my grandmother, who wore it constantly. 🙂
if you like corals, CND nail varnish in PoppyField! i love it as much as i love your blog 🙂
Another great corally color is Cajun Shrimp by OPI!
I saw someone wearing that ring on the subway tonight. Lovely coincidence.
I switch between OPI figi (which my bf says looks like calamine lotion) and OPI lincoln park after dark, because I’m from lincoln park! But I might have to try something coral for spring…
i´m quite the nailpolish-addict…discoverd alessandros minibottles just recently and i`m totally in love with “turtle love”, “moody mauve” and “ver-million”. not only the colours are great, it doesn`t chip for a very long time.
Ok for anyone looking for a good mint color, I found one! China Glaze – Re-fresh Mint. I like it better than Essie’s mint shade!
lovely rings! my skin is a bit more tan/brown, so i sort of steer clear of red and coral for some reason! these days my fingernails are either bare/clear or some shade of dark purple/plum or dark grey. it’s either something bold or nothing at all!
hey all, for those of you who asked about the green floral ring. it belongs to jen at ban.do and she got it from Forever 21 like 3 years ago!
i LOVE this post. I always fall back to a very safe Essie Sugar Daddy though last week I discovered Essie’s Lacquered Up. It is lovely orange-red just a perfect hit of color for all the peachy pink neutral colors I’ve been wearing.
Oh, how I love nail polish. Right now I am wearing China Glaze Agent Lavender, which I adore. The perfect pale purple shade. OPI Lincoln Park After Dark is probably my all time favorite though, and I am loving Zoya Dovima, which is a very dark grey matte polish with some silver shimmer. I’m also a lover of coral polish in the summer months!
Essie’s Wicked, OPI Lincoln After Dark, Chanel Vamp.
I think I have a thing for dark colors. Check back with me when summer hits 😉
OPI’s I’m Not Really A Waitress & My Chihuahua Bites…I think I sometimes buy those polishes just for the names 🙂
Well, I have short stubby man-hands and wimpy short nails. Woe is me! So I dont tend to polish my fingernails. However, I ALWAYS polish my toenails. At the moment, I’m loving a french polish.
I love You Don’t Know Jacques! If I’m in a hurry and painting my own nails, I love Essie’s Flower Girl. It’s an easy shade to get on your nails and you don’t see any chips 🙂 I also like Moon Over Mumbai – it’s a opal-y white shade 🙂
Can you please tell me where the diamond ring in this picture came from? I’m in love with this ring!!
Can you please tell me where you got your diamond ring?
I have been wearing the very Happy Birthday that you mentioned. It’s fabulous, sparkly love!
I love Essie’s red and pink
