Joan's on Third is certainly no secret to the locals in LA. Partly reminiscent of Dean & Deluca in New York with its gourmet selection of groceries, Joan's also has an attached casual eatery full of salads and sandwiches galore. The bakery counter is full of sweet treats like french macarons, cupcakes, and strawberry shortcakes so be sure to leave room for dessert.
Final thoughts…4 out of 5 ladies for simple, pure, and tasty food, great desserts…and, of course, a celeb spotting here and there.

i LOVE home-made pickles! I actual made some a few weeks ago and they were yum. those sandwiches are killing me…i’m gonna go make some food! haha.
yes the pickles are divine! one of my favorite reasons to go there! mmm
I saw those pickles and knew exactly where you were! Love the turkey meatloaf sandwich…mmmm my favorite! I also love their version of the hostess cupcake. You’re right about the celeb watching. I was sitting with a friend looking around and said, “oh wow, everyone looks so Paris Hilton” and she said, “that IS Paris Hilton dummy.”
I do like a side order of celebrity with my sandwich…
I love the attached bakery! Their cupcakes are such a great treat, especially the raspberry filled one. The gourmet market is hard to pass up too. Great photos…very tempting.
Looks really yummy! Another casual hotpot I just discovered is Wurstkuche, Downtown LA, just outside of Little Tokyo. SO GOOD and great beer selections. Every kind of mustard imaginable. Fantastic decor.

I’ve heard of Joans on 3rd … my sister works near her store in a shop called Noodle Stories. I’ll have to tell her about this blog, she loves Joans.
