a bánh mì bite in {atwater village}…

I've been on a search for my new favorite bánh mì shop in Los Angeles, and I just may have found one. While Viet Noodle Bar in Atwater Village is more known for their noodle dishes, I'm a bigger fan of their take on bánh mì. They don't have the traditional ham and paté or BBQ'ed pork. Instead, you'll find white fish with tumeric {shown} or chicken lemongrass sandwiches in the traditional baguette roll and topped with the standard cilantro, picked carrots, and daikon. While on the smaller side and priced higher than a hole-in-the-wall bánh mì shop, it surely satisfies the craving if you're on the East side and looking for a fix!

  1. you MUST check out Soy Cafe just up the road from you Silverlake. Its super duper small but quite yummy and you just feel so good supporting the local biz! 🙂

  2. Oh my! This is one of my favorite restaurants… my husband and I frequent it at least once a week 🙂 You should try their noodle dishes too (either #21 or #23). AND if you’re over there already… you must try Sweets for the Soul!

  3. Mmm, I’ve been in a banh mi mood after watching the nom nom truck on Food Network’s “Great Food Truck Race.”

  5. If you’re up for a drive down to Westminster, Bánh Mì Chè Cali is pretty amazing. Open 24 hours, crazy delicious, and sooo cheap! Or for something a bit more local (and brought to you by some dear friends who first introduced us to Bánh Mì), check out Starry Kitchen at California Plaza downtown. Husband and wife duo Nguyen and Thi have a pretty cool success story… and they make the BEST bánh mì I’ve encountered… even slightly better than NomNom! I hope you find what you’re looking for 🙂

  6. Come to the SGV, where you can get bánh mì for $2.95, buy 2 get one free. Just get on the 10 fwy and it is just 8 miles from downtown. I’ll gladly show you around.
