Especially since I'm in Japan right now, this amazing furoshiki {a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth} by Lucinda Newton-Dunn feels pretty perfect today. I LOVE how it serves so many functions and remains beautiful in every form.

I LOVE the versatility of furoshikis! I wish they’d grow in popularity here because they’re so much handier and much prettier than those cheesy reusable bags stores are peddling.
Love that graphic red & white print!
Furoshiki’s are ever so useful. We blogged about the possibilities just last week. And even some DIY tips for sewing your own: http://omiyageblogs.blogspot.com/2010/09/make-your-own-furoshiki.html
And, vintage scarves also make an excellent furoshiki alternative!
The Japanese have a way with fabulous multi purpose items and providing tools for things you never knew you needed. This is one very tres chic item and one I would love to have…
Thank you for all the comments! It’s all made in Japan and If you would like to get one, please visit http://www.loopto.com or DM us at [email protected]. We can send the Furoshiki from Tokyo to the world! by LINK Tokyo.
Lush Cosmetics now does furoshiki as their custom gift wrap!
In North America, they have adorable organic cotton fair-trade scarves, or ones made from plastic bottles that are really silky and soft. In the UK, they also use vintage. All vegan, yay! http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/gifts/accessories/swallow

WOW! Really?! I can’t believe how many uses you get out of that adorable thing… and of course I’m drawn to the stripes! Love!
So very pretty and useful! Would love to go to Japan some day. Hope to hear more about your travels through the blog.
That is so cool! Are they intended to serve so many purposes? I think I must have one.
This is love! I really like the print 🙂
My husband’s family lives and Japan, and I also love furoshikis. If you are going to Kyoto, you’ll need to check out the small Kyoto chain, RAAK. They have a few stores throughout Kyoto. They specialize in furoshikis and other special printed goodies.
