I love the idea of salad, but I rarely make salads at home because they usually seem more fun and exotic when someone else makes it. However, my friend Mari recently told me about her fancy secret combo {I guess it's not a secret anymore}…italian dressing and soy sauce! What do those two have in common, you ask? Well, my friend, the mix of the two brings your standard 'ole Italian dressing to a new, slightly Asian-y, level. And, it's now my new best friend. 1 part soy sauce to 3 parts Italian dressing mixed with a little black pepper, cubed Persian cukes, and some baby heirloom tomatoes! {And yes, the pieces are so small, I find it easier to eat with chopsticks}.

ooh I’ll have to try that and the salad.
I’ve been taking Marie’s raspberry vinaigrette and mixing it with balsamic vinegar. So tasty!
Yay for simple recipes! Thanks 🙂
thanks for this “secret” tip! i am so gonna try it!!
Fresh! Now winter is here I am craving hot food most of the time but sometimes I feel so full I just need some salad!
what kind of italian dressing do you use?
xo
I have to say that I am very intrigued by this. Soy is something I would never think of mixing with Italian dressing, but your picture and description look and sound so yummy, that I’m definitely trying it. We’ll see what happens…;)
My mom does that too! I wonder if it’s a Japanese thing.
Glad to hear you’re now eating some greens at home! 😉
