I'm guilty of being a food paparazzi who takes pictures of every dish I'm having for the first time. In another life, I'd love to be an illustrator who can draw quirky and fanciful versions of what I'm eating instead {Imagine if real paparazzi drew celebs instead of photographing them! Sounds much more fancy}. So I'm loving the work of Lucile Prache, Caitlin McGauley, Mike Lowery, and Claudia Pearson who depict their food lives in such fun illustrated ways…

  1. I was watching the Duchess and Keira Knightley’s character was constantly being drawn by the paparazzi of the day

  2. Oo, you should check out donteatthepaintings.com My friend Haley recently began illustrating her favorite recipes. Totally charming and very well done.
(she’s a Philly local – which I believe you used to be, yes?)

  3. I was just going through the little cookbook of my grandmother’s recipes that she wanted to make certain were passed along to everyone in the family. She was a friend of Mrs. Rombauer (Joy of Cooking) and did some tasting / testing for her. It’s funny, as half of my Gam’s recipes don’t include oven temperature or length of time. She just assumed we should all know. Anyway, I love the idea of making an illustrated version for everyone in the family – complete with oven temperatures. Don’t think I’ll finish it for this year, but for next year’s holiday giving. Love Haley’s website too! Wow!

  11. I’m guilty of being a food paparazzi too. It’s not always a good thing when my husband is hungry either. If you haven’t heard of this yet, you should check out Foodspotting. I’d love to be able to follow your food findings there.
