I've posted about my love of Carmela Ice Cream's ice cream before, but good news is…for those of you in LA, they've just opened their very own shop! I've previously gotten my Carmela ice cream and sorbet fix at the local farmer's markets, so I'm thrilled that my addiction can now be satiated every day of the week {if I so choose}! Their fresh flavor palate focuses on garden-inspired ingredients such as herbs and spices, flowers, and seasonal fruit to create delicious small-batch, artisan ice cream. In addition to my favorite salted caramel flavor {and the ridiculously tasty ice cream sandwiches}, the new meyer lemon olive oil ice cream and orange vanilla bean sorbet makes for some very gooood stuff!

  10. This post made my morning! I just moved to Pasadena (arrived on Sunday) and was wondering where I was going to get my ice-cream fix! I’m excited to try their salted caramel 🙂 I’ll have to see if it’s as good as Molly Moon’s in Seattle!

  11. There are parts on my person which are most grateful they and the rest of me do not live in Pasadena. My thighs and butt leap to mind, but much yum.

  12. Yum! I had some amazing ice cream from the Lake Street Creamery truck last week in Santa Monica – salted butterscotch and cake donut flavored!! Still dreaming about that donut flavor…

  13. That salted caramel is so yummy, but the best is the lemon basil sorbet. It tastes like how your hands and kitchen smell after you’ve just picked lemons off of the tree – fresh and citrusy and green.

  14. Ooo, we have artisan ice cream at a local place in Columbus, OH called Jeni’s. They have some similar flavors you mentioned…my favorite this season is the goat cheese and fig ice cream. SO good! Thanks to your post I am now craving ice cream in the middle of a snow storm! Haha.

  15. I’d been getting my Carmela fix at the South Pasadena farmers market, but I must stop by the new shop! If I bike the 2 miles to the shop, do you think that cancels out all the calories? Hah! 🙂

  16. i’ve been waiting for Carmela to open up their own shop! i remember the days of going to the South Pas Farmer’s Market and sampling their delectable ice cream, now I’m excited to visit their shop!

  24. That chocolate cocoa nib looks terrific! We have a store in Seattle with similar ice cream love called Molly Moon’s. I just might have to go there today!

  25. Thank you for the heads-up! As a Pasadenian, I’m so happy I’ll be able to just drop by when i get that ice-creamery craving.

  26. I drive this route to drop my little off at school every day. I almost drove off the road Tuesday as I was craning my head to see the new store! Hooray!

  27. Thanks for the heads up Joy. It turns out I pass it every day on the way to my kids’ school. Just stopped in today for an after-school treat and there was a nice line of people doing the same. I think they’ll do really well there. I had lavender-honey and it tasted just like those two things!
