Last night, Bob and I went on an impromptu date to one of our favorite local spots in Silver Lake, Speranza. The casual Italian restaurant always does a great job making simple, fresh pasta in a setting that feels relaxed {I love the campy plaid blankets they offer if you get cold}. But two of my favorite treats on the menu, have got to be the cheese & pear plate {especially the cheese that looks like a flower}…and the homemade almond meringue cookies topped with berries & cream {chewy, crispy, sweet perfection!}. Not that it's too surprising to hear, but I seriously dream about those cookies… — Joy

  1. That cheese plate looks fantastic! I bet the textures are so nice. I wish every restaurant offered you a blanket when you’re cold! I might have to check this place out.

  2. Hi Joy~
Have you been to the Farmer’s Daughter (restaurant attached to hotel) yet for breakfast or brunch? It is so lovely, you can eat on the patio and they have the best pancakes but the oatmeal with fresh fruit was divine. They even have “biscuits and gravy” if you want a taste of the south — I didn’t try that but it looked great on the table next to us. By the way, I love your food posts. What I loved about L.A. was the availability of healthy in-season food. But yes, if you and Bob go on breakfast dates that a great place and super affordable.
    🙂
