{work in progress} our bedroom…

Now that our living and dining rooms are decorated {thanks to a certain Secret Stylist}, I'm onto the bedroom next…and must get it together quick for an upcoming photoshoot! The sketch I created of my dining room really helped me to visualize what I wanted the room to look like, so I thought I'd put together one of my bedroom plans as well… — Joy

  1. What a gorgeous mood board… If you need help actually finding that curtain fabric though let me know, painting all those zig-zags night be quite daunting of a task.

  2. I also have the map pictured, but have yet to hang it. I didn’t buy it with a frame. Any tips for the best (and most economical) way to hang/frame it? I might be going with binder clips and small nails for the time being. thanks!

  3. What a sweet blog you have here! I’m loving your finds- my boyfriend and I are map lovers and I love that map!
Can’t wait to see what else you find 🙂
    Cheers!

  12. the sideboard is part of an amazing set by broyhill called brasilia… i have a whole house of it! your version is painted (gasp!)… but beautiful none the less.

  13. Love all your Work in Progress pages. Hope you will share the end result! I so enjoyed your old home that you shared with the world on Design Sponge a few years back.

  15. Hi Emily!
I took it to a frame shop in my area and did a matte gold frame. It was super affordable, just $30 for the custom frame!

  16. LOVE this entire look. I bought my husband a magnetic future map for his birthday last year, and its been super fun to use diff colored magnets to track where he’s been, where I’ve been, and where we’ve been together…

  17. Joy – it is going to look gorgeous. What an incredible colour combination! Regarding framing the world map – did you use glass or just a frame with no glass like they mention on the Future Mapping company website?

  18. Ooh, I have that Broyhill sideboard, and it’s my favorite item of furniture. Seriously, 2 years in, I still catch myself staring at it. It’s especially awesome because it works well as either a dresser or sideboard — I display it in the living room like a sideboard, but use it for extra clothes storage. Highly recommend!

  19. I too have that map and haven’t hung it yet- that binder clip and nail idea sounds amazing and teaming it with confetti system has my heart pounding with glee already!

  20. I “collect” (on a budget!) Brasilia by Broyhill also – I have an original sales pamphlet and there were so many amazing pieces! It’s very sophisticated and can work in varied ways – we use a rosewood buffet similar to above for a bar.

  21. CRAZY!! I have that same dresser that I found at a resale shop except mine has drawers in the middle and the cabinets on the side. I like the way that one is refinished. hmmmm idea!

  22. Absolutely gorgeous, Joy! A reader sent me over here, as I had been raving about those tassels and she’d seen them in this post. I love putting together inspiration boards, as well, and have found them so helpful in keeping me on track. Just wish I were moving along a bit more quickly with the actual process!
