I'm not sure why…but after a lifetime of being lukewarm about french toast, I'm finding myself loving it a lot lately. Whether it's the doughnut kind, the s'mores kind, or topped with caramelized bananas & hazelnut cream {like this one from Square One}, the morning breaded sweet has definitely become a new staple… — Joy

That looks incredible. I’m the same way, I’ve never been a huge fan. But I had some at a cafe here in NYC that rocked my world.xx
I love your foodie pics! And you were absolutely darling on “Secrets of a Stylist.”

Wow. I’m the same way – I tend to prefer savory breakfast items over sweet, but can we say “cue. craving.”

I am obsessed with french toast. Obsessed, like, it is a sickness. I could eat it everyday. Luckily, I don’t have the time to 🙂
i always forget about french toast but after watching paula dean whip some up i have been craving it. i’ll have to make a bit healthier version than hers though!

this looks too delicious to be viewing an hour before lunch.
I was always not-so-excited about french toast too, and then I had some here in Detroit that is oven baked and streusel topped and I fell head over heels!
And that one up there looks awesome, too!
yum yum
Yum! My sister just introduced me to this recipe:

I can’t wait to try it out!
*drool* you make me want a second breakfast.
This looks so tasty! Such a great brunch spot too 🙂
MMM, french toast. LOVE it.
I usually take my mothers sweet bread and use that instead of regular toast…fastening but so delicious and worth it ! 🙂

Mmm looks tasty. I actually had french toast on my mind last week but didn’t make it. This is making me have the craving again! 🙂

the BEST french toast in LA (and quite possibly, the universe) is at amandine patisserie in west LA. get it with strawberries and their fresh whipped cream. it is, in my opinion, leagues better than the french toast at square one or some of the other popular brunch places.
Anything that resembles a dessert for breakfast? Count me in. I’ve always loved french toast- any time of the day. Those caramelized bananas make it even more mouthwatering! xo

Square One Dining is my faaaaave in LA! I love that the cold & hot toppings for their french toast change every so often. 🙂 Good choice!!
Looks delicious. Why hadn’t I thought of adding bananas before?
French toast has always been my favorite breakfast…. but this one is by far the best I’ve ever tried:

and it’s super easy!
For a full review (including my thoughts of angels singing) i blogged it here:

Oh so yum. I have been trying to make various types of French Toast, stuffed and the regular kind and I have not found perfection yet. They taste good but they are not heavenly morsels of warm goodness.. that’s what your picture looks like.. heavenly.
Well, this just looks heavenly.
how do pack away all of this food and stay so tiny?!
Looks delightful as usual:)
WOW! I want to eat this now! I wish I lived in a city with as much delicious food as you seem to find!
I must, must, must try french toast. It’s not particularly heard of in England but what a fab alternative to my usual weekend pastry! Thank you
i’ve never been hot about french toast too, but that looks yummy!
love love love french toast! Your pic just transported me back to the morning where our friends made the best french toast for us. Thank you!
My favorite breakfast join in Chicago, The Bongo Room, has brown sugar french toast with banana & praline cookies on top. It’s heaven!
So, so, so delicious. I’m still dreaming about it! 🙂
If you’re ever back in San Diego, North Park to be precise, you have to try The Mission’s French toast made with their freshly-baked Cinnamon bread…DELICIOUS!!!! (and so much of it)

The simplest yet most delish form of French toast that I’ve ever had was two slices of Texas toast slathered generously with a cream cheese/sugar/vanilla mix sandwiched inside, egg dipped and pan-fried per usual.
I don’t fancy myself a chef (or even a run-of-the-mill cook), but I saw this recipe en la Food Network and….mmmmm….
Welcome to the dark side, Joy. =) Next time you head to Philly will be the perfect time to get familiar with Sabrina’s stuffed french toast. 😉
