Who Diana Yen, recipe developer, food stylist, and designer for The Jewels of New York.
Where I usually try to stop by home for a bite to eat. My fridge is always full of yummy leftover ingredients from photo shoots and recipe testing.
Time 2 pm. I'm always losing track of time and a little late on lunch! Dinner is always late, too, usually closer to 9pm.
What's a typical lunch for you? A slice of spelt bread slathered with fresh butter, Maldon salt, baby radishes, and a boiled egg. Simple and quality ingredients is always best, especially when you're busy running in and out all around the city! I also love pasta salads loaded with lots of greens for lunch. The pasta gives me energy to keep going, and the vegetables give lightness and texture to the meal.
What's your dream/ideal lunch? Spending the morning foraging for mushrooms and other wild edibles and making a tart with it for lunch. Food always tastes better after you've worked hard for it!
Dessert with lunch? I usually have a piece of dark chocolate. If I'm running errands near Balthazar's or City Bakery, I'm always tempted to pick up a cookie or madeleine.
Thanks Diana!

Why don’t I eat pretty little lunches like this?!
Those radishes look so pretty cut in half like that!
I love boiled egges~ or maybe i just like them cuz they’re presented on a little pedestal cup?!! I am a sucker for packaging. lol
Yum yum yum to this post!
I’m all for good ingredients and delicious freshly prepared foods (especially cookies!) but every time I’ve gone to City Bakery, the cookies are terrible…
What a lovely simple lunch. Soft boiled eggs are my favorite!
This looks absolutely divine…I’m not sure if there’s anything better than a perfectly cooked egg, eaten with the BEST bread and butter. Simple and so beautiful!
The lunch looks so yummy.. wonderful!
