For the last of my Portland eats, here's a spot that's near and dear to my heart. Growing up in a Thai family who owned Thai restaurants, I've always been the biggest fan of Thai food…but also very critical of the authenticity of many spots as well. I had heard great things about Pok Pok from Bonnie and Sally, and knew it was a must try for my recent trip to Portland. Despite feeling under the weather and not as voracious as usual, I still loved Pok Pok. It reminded me of the great home style meals and street food stands from Thailand, and I love that they offer dishes you can't get at most Thai restaurants in the States. The chicken wings and papaya salad {shown} were two of my favorites as well as their drinking vinegar soda {I quickly gulped down two!}. I'm glad that LA has such great Thai food, otherwise, I'd need to book a flight back to Portland stat for my Pok Pok fix! — Joy

Drinking vinegar soda! What’s that like? I love trying out new things – I wonder where I can pick that up in NYC? Happy to hear you found a super authentic Thai resto that met your expectations! I love it when that happens 🙂
Yummmmy!
Hi Kimberly!
Its so good! The vinegar taste is more subtle and sour…so so tasty…especially when youre craving that flavor like I have been during my pregnancy!

Papaya salad was my favorite street food snack when I visited Thailand! So fresh and delicious!
Oh my, yes! I’m so in love with Pok Pok too!
Oh my goodness Joy! Those chicken wings look soooo good. In Sydney, the Thai places usually serve chicken wings deep-fried. Chicken wings are like my favourite food – I’ll remember Pok Pok if I ever visit Portland.

PokPok is the one place we have loved after many trips to Thailand. Problem is, we live in Boston (SobSob!).
do you have any suggestions for great thai food in Los Angeles? thanks!
I love going to PokPok whenever I’m lucky enough to visit Portland. I crave those wings and the Salted Plum Vodka Collins! So good.
Hi Diane,
Yes, Jitlada is my favorite so far in LA!

I’m loving these Portland posts, Joy! Next time, you’ll have to check out their other restaurant Ping. 🙂
I’m so glad you went there!! I loved it as well and bought a t-shirt to prove it 😉
So in love!!!
Looks stunning!
