A couple weekends ago…we had a fried chicken weekend like no other. My new favorite Friday ritual is to get a picnic lunch or dinner at Broome St. General for their fried chicken Friday special! Made by Cube, it's one of my favorite chickens of the fried variety in LA. Accompanied by a light and lovely burrata, tomato, and peach salad…this combo is summer in a basket!

The very next day, we feasted on a basket of Korean Fried Chicken {the other KFC!} at Bon Chon. It's total Korean fast food and seriously delicious. My favorite wings are spicy and sweet option. Accompanied by some grilled dok boki and cubed pickled radishes to combat the heat, it's like a crunchier, sweeter, spicier version of Buffalo wings! Needless to say, my belly and my baby seemed pretty happy…— Joy

  1. These photos make me feel really hungry. I just love the way you photograph food. Burrata, tomato, and peach salad – YUMMY! 🙂
    What camera do you use?

  2. Hi Meriem,
    Thanks!
For the photos that I take{noted at the bottom of image}, I use a Nikon D3000 with the 18-55mm lens. The newer version of my camera is the D3100. Its alightweight, easy-to-use, not too pricey camera as far as DSLRs go. I am by no means a professional photographer, but I always recommend natural and indirectlighting for the best shots.
    Best,
    Joy

  3. My husband and I were just talking fried chicken this weekend and both of these look like top-notch options although I’m most curious to try that Korean version, mmm spicy food! Incidentally, I love my Nikon D3100, still learning how to use it though 🙂

  4. Joy,
im going to splash out on a new camera soon and need as many suggestions like this as possible. Will have a look at this Nikon D3100. Many thanks Meriem.

  5. Yum yum yum! You pregnant women always find the best food! 🙂 Though when I was pregnant I’m pretty sure I just ate my weight in cold cereal and Greek food!

  7. I am so hungry at work right now and this post is making me even hungrier 😉 I’ve been meaning to try Cube’s food for the longest time and this gives me even more incentive.
