Grilled-cheese-gruyere-fig

  1. I am a big fan of either smoked or aged or sharp cheddar with pear slices, a lot of butter on whole wheat bread! It’s the kind of sandwich that makes me happy no matter my mood! I haven’t tried Brie and Raspberry, but that sounds mouthwatering.

  2. Dave’s Killer Good Seed bread with Australian Boxing Cheddar and cranberry horseradish sauce. OMG! I wish I wasn’t gluten-free right now. sigh.

  3. ok now i need to fulfill my pregnancy craving for grilled cheese. i think i’ll go basic: cheddar, tomato and turkey bacon….oh and maybe avocado. v. excited about lunch now.

  4. Sourdough, a bit of mayo, marbled cheddar, a thin coating of butter on the outside… and must have a side of pickle 🙂

  6. wow that sounds good, i should try this. I never thought to use like a jelly, oh man that has me wanting to add a pepper jelly in. yumm. my favorite is using sun dried tomato basil cheese. sometimes i do just that but its also good with some red pepper and spinach lettuce leaves with it. i think i made up spinach lettuce leaves, but im sure you know what im talking about.

  7. ciabatta bread- pesto ghouda (an amazing new find) and tons of bread, with the help of my “vintage” George Forman 🙂

  8. gruyere + bread and butter pickles.
as soon as i saw this combo in the july bon appetit, i had to make it mine. it’s been my go to pregnancy sandwich!

  9. Normally I like mine with avocado, turkey bacon and a little bit of durkees but fig jam sounds AMAZING. and much more refined 🙂 I’m going to have to try that! Any one have a recipe or brand recommendation?

  10. brown rice bread (for those that are gluten/wheat free – Bread For Life has an amazing one!), muenster cheese on one side and colby jack on the other, and fajita veggies stuffed in the middle! So good!

  11. Hands down my favorite meal! I have two favorites. Whole wheat bread with a little pesto-mayo spread and mozzarella cheese. My other fave is sourdough with apple butter spread and grueyere. Now I’m really hungry!

  20. Amazing whole wheat sourdough from the local farmer’s market, new zealand sharp cheddar from TJ’s, avocado and onions sprouts (they give it that oniony flavor without being overpowering)

  21. Whole grain sourdough bread from Trader Joe’s, one slice Muenster, one slice Colby Jack, whole grain mustard slathered one one slice of bread and grilled with butter. Mmmmm!
P.S. – Dip in tomato and roasted red pepper soup for an out-of-this world combo!

  22. Grilled cheese any way has always been my favorite, since I was 7. Cheddar, Mango Chutney and bacon is in the current rotation.

  23. Love this post! My favourite is a stuffed jalepeno grilled cheese – a layer of cream cheese, then a layer of sliced jalepenos, and finally a layer of cheddar. Spread mayo on the outside of the sandwich to make it extra crispy (the flavour bakes off). Naughty but nice!

  24. I had a grilled cheese sandwich the other day with roasted butternut squash, gruyere, fontina, sage butter, caramelized onions and crumbled feta. OH MY!! I love the idea of adding the sweetness of jam to it though.

  25. This inspired me to make and do a post on a truffle grilled cheese 🙂 I love @Living Longingly’s suggestion of a stuffed jalapeno grilled cheese. I think I see one of those in my future…

  26. Grilled vintage chedder with peanut butter (chunky, creamy, organic, any shape or form) on unsweetened brown bread. Delish!

  27. My fav grilled cheese is with Rosemary Sea Salt bread. A little spicy mustard, butter (of course) and Gruyere cheese. It’s to die for!

  28. my favorite grilled cheese is provolone, sun dried tomato, and pesto on sourdough. my hubby likes to sprinkle a little garlic salt on the bread, after buttering it up! i tried grated parmesan the other night. yummy!

  29. After much trial and error, we always make our grilled cheeses with potato bread, muenster cheese, a slice of turkey and homemade honey mustard. Soooo, yummy-sweet-salty-crunchy-gooey. There’s nothing else like it!
