I'm a huge fan of Sydney's mama-in-the-making style and easy-going humor. So while I'm on maternity leave, I asked Sydney to share a pregnant lady style post with us showing how you really can embrace the bump. Sydney is due in a month, and I think she looks amazing! — Joy

Hi! I'm Sydney, from The Daybook! I'm so excited to be guest posting for Joy while she gets lots and lots of lovin' time in with her new baby girl {Congrats beautiful momma}! Needless to say, I'm a bit jealous of her head start! 😉

How many of us, upon hearing the term 'animal print', experience immediate shudders and have visions of Bet Lynch swathed in really bad leopard dance through our heads? Anyone? Yea, I can see your hands raised. These were my sentiments exactly until I saw this skirt on the rack at Target the other day. It first caught my attention because A: It was stretchy and B: it rested at the perfect length below my knees. {Ideal for sitting in unladylike positions for extended periods of time. Sometimes the belly just can't handle any more leg-crossin', man.} On second glance, I decided that the print was yes…an animal print…but I'd see if I could give it a go. Stretchiness makes ANY print worth it right now.

I wanted to keep the look subdued and classy. So I paired it with neutral colors and an additional simple striped print. I also kept the jewelry simple with a gold boyfriend watch and a jeweled chain necklace. What do you think? Would you ever wear something like this? Styling this outfit made me realize how subdued and classy an animal print can actually look when paired with the right pieces. Even an animal print incorporated subtly through accessories can be a fun way to punch up a simple outfit.

I've got my eye on those flats. Wouldn't something like that be great paired with some dark cropped jeans, a white button up and dark sunglasses? Add that to my list of things I can wear in 4 weeks and counting… — Sydney

  1. I love that Sydney is guest posting here because I love both of your blogs! I was about to purchase this skirt when my friend told me she thought the stretch material combined with the leopard made it look too cheap. Clearly she was wrong! Now I’m regretting not buying it because Sydney is rocking it like a classy hottie! I just might have to head back to Target.

  2. Love your picks, Sydney! I’ve never tried wearing clothes w/ animal print, but I do have zebra-striped glasses that I love. But I’m thinking it’s time to head to my local Target for a stretchy skirt of my own…Xo, Katie
    P.S. You look FABULOUS!!

  3. I love your outfit. If i was pregnant i would flaunt the baby belly all the time, even in a bikini.
I tried to find the striped shirt on the store’s website with no avail. Do you have a direct link of where i can buy it?
