My husband has made it a habit lately to come home from work for lunch, and it’s a nice time for us to sit together for a few minutes in the middle of the day.
Earlier this week, we ate our homemade lunch and he still had about 15 minutes before he left to go back, so we curled up together on the couch and dozed lazily by the fire for a few minutes. It was a great break from the workday to bask in love!
One small cozy moment I’ve had is drinking a warm cup of coffee at my fellowship service on Sunday. Its so comforting to be around kind people and sip on my favorite drink!

It’s so hard to find good wallpaper in Singapore.
As for a cozy moment, my partner and I were recently in Lombok (Indonesia), and we spent so much time lying on the beach counting the stars. We’re city folk, and we rarely get to appreciate the vastness of the universe.
The other day I went home to visit my parents, we had a great dinner and then we all sat by the fire watching a hockey game (I’m Canadian, so that alone is cozy and comforting for me) while I snuggled with my beautiful golden retriever Georgia! It was really nice to spend time with my parents who are so supportive and my dog who is always full of love. True comfort!

I’m a newlywed and a hygge moment was after a long day of moving and unpacking and cleaning, we sat on our new couch and felt like our home was finally to become our home.
I moved from home a few years back and don’t get to see my mom and sisters together very often. Our cozy moment was sitting outside with blankets on our laps, cider in our hands, carving pumpkins. It was one of those perfect and rare times, you know? To be cherished.

My husband and a recently adopted a chorkie, probably one of the cutest, littlest dogs you’ll ever see. Every time I see him taking care of her it gives me butterflies with thoughts of him playing with our future children.
Recently, there was a power outage in San Diego that lasted about 12 hours. At first, I panicked, wondering how I was going to charge my cell phone, what I was going to do without my computer and how I’d cook dinner. As night arrived, it was amazing to look up into the sky and see the stars without the usual city streetlights. At my apartment, I lit a bunch of candles and played board games with my neighbors. It was actually really refreshing to be disconnected, and it gave me a new perspective on technology and the importance of unplugging every now and then. Super cozy, indeed! Joy, your patterns are my favorite from Hygge!
Oh what a wonderful giveaway! A recent moment that will always stand out for me: my husband feeling our twin boys move for the first time, after which my mom and sister running over to feel my belly too. 🙂 it was so heartwarming to see my boys so loved already.
One of the many cozy moments I’ve had recently having a new baby was when my 5 month old daughter was having trouble sleeping because she was so congested. We spent the night with her sleeping on my chest so she would be elevated and while I didn’t sleep a wink, I cherished being able to comfort her that way!
The first snow came early this year, and it resulted in my husband and I curled up on the couch under a blanket watching through our living room windows as it fell. Nothing makes me feel much cozier than moments like that.
My hygge moment to be remembered was this past weekend. My fiance and I visited with a couple we are friends with who just had a baby. I had never held a newborn before, and to hold such a tiny little human was amazing. It made my fiance and I so much more excited about starting a family someday.
My most recent joyful, cozy memory was just a little over a week ago. My boyfriend and I moved into our apartment 6 months ago, but had yet to christen our fireplace (a luxury in apartment living!) Not long ago, the weather was just cold enough to make a pot of hot chocolate and light a fire for the first time. It got me very excited for what’s to come!
The most recent cozy moment I have had with my boyfriend was snuggling on the couch and watching Citizen Kane with a glass of wine and a slice of pizza!

My boyfriend and I are in the midst of a very busy time…he’s finishing his dissertation and will be defending his PhD soon. We’re getting through this busy time by working together…literally. The coziness and luxury of both of us working at home together is what keeps me sane:)
My sons (3.5 & 1.5) were being “too quiet” the other day, which usually means a gigantic mess is being made. I went to their room to investigate, and they were both in the crib, sitting atop every stuffed animal we own, eating “sticky Cheerios” (honey nut) and reading together. When my oldest saw me in the doorway, he said, “Mama, we love to snuggle!”. It was the sweetest moment for my heart!
recently, my boyfriend and i painted a small wall in our kitchen with black chalkboard paint. a few times now, i have come home from work to a sweet little love note written to me in colorful chalk. it’s a small gesture that gets me every time 🙂
The coziest place I’ve traveled the past few years has got to be my childhood home. Returning to hang with my parents for holidays or long weekends always means surrounding myself with people I love, and memories from earlier years. I’ll be sad to see it go when they eventually sell it, but until then plan on taking advantage of all the hygge possible!

It’s officially been fall for weeks now, but the other morning was the first time that it “smelled” like fall. Fallen leaves, firewood burning…I love moments like that, especially during my favorite season.
My cozy hygge moments always happen on Sunday mornings with the paper, my partner, and our cat, all snuggled together on the couch – reading, learning, and loving.
finding out that my husband and i are going to have a baby this year… probably the coziest, most joyful moment I have had this year… and now more recently, every time my baby moves inside me. it’s like a secret language only her and i get to experience.
I recently adopted a puppy and it’s been weeks of non-stop madness. However once he settles down and cuddles in my lap, I can’t imagine anything better after the craziness!
The rainy season has started in Costa Rica, watching the rain, cozy cloth and a cup of hot chocolate and curling up with my husband is a really joyful moment in one of those few days were the weather is not hot and humid here.

It’s harvest-time in Iowa, so long conversations while riding in the combine are always cozy, wonderful moments.
I am teaching my mom how to knit! Yesterday, she got ready to make her first hat and I pulled some really soft, fluffy yarn for her. She thought it was too nice for teaching but I could tell that the color made her really happy, and it was so soft that she kept going even when she got frustrated. We were sitting in front of the fire and drinking tea and I couldn’t help but feel really proud of the fact that for once, I could teach my mom something that would make her really happy with herself. Giving back to your parents can be such a rare thing in your mid-20’s because they’re giving you so much help with everything. That’s my cozy moment!
Oh man. The one split second where I pick up my one-year-old niece, and she puts her two little hands on my cheeks and looks straight into my eyes. It lasts for an instant, but melts me for the whole day.
Hygge to me is cuddling with my husband and dog, and being able to carry on as long as I want… not having to get up to do chores or go anywhere, just a moment of being perfectly content and comfortable.
My two year old is a mover and wiggler, so it’s a rare occassion that he will sit and snuggle with me. Last Monday, he laid his head on my chest allowing me to stroke his hair and kiss the top of his head with the simple tilt of my head. We were very cozy.
My Hygge moments lately have just been wrapped in a cozy blanket on the couch with my husband. He works a really hard job and long hours so these times we truly cherish. After being together twenty five years we still cuddle every night and catch up on our days.
My husband out of the blue sent me a card in the mail at work. A simple gesture that meant so much.

Recently, my boyfriend and I rented a cabin up in Helen, GA. We wanted a relaxing weekend away together and really get to enjoy this beautiful Fall season. Our quaint little cabin was so so cozy. We had such a wonderful time lounging around in our wool socks, drinking hot chocolate and eating caramel apples. So much laughter we shared, I’ll never forget our warm time up in the mountains.

Every precious moment I get to spend cuddling with my new baby boy is cherished! I’m back to work full time now, and I so look forward to evenings spent at home with my husband and our baby.
Last sunday my boyfriend and I had a perfect homemade dinner with beloved friends who recently moved together. For me, first dinners in new homes are always cozy and exciting.
Just last night, my very asleep boyfriend snuggled into me and said ‘You – I love you.”
We recently recarpeted the basement. It’s still pretty cold, so we added a small space heater and voila, it’s become our go to place for movies on rainy days, reading old and new books, napping with our daughter and just to cuddle.

This past weekend I was snuggling with my husband on the couch next to the fire, it was so sweet and one of those moments that makes you thankful for the little things in life.
Saturday night, my partner & I had a small Halloween party with about 25 friends. I was on my feet all night (in heels & costume) mingling, taking dirty plates & glasses from friends, & helping my boyfriend make drinks. It was a whirlwind, but at 1 point I stopped to take everything in. I scanned the room to see the smiling faces of our friends, having fun, our dogs sitting in the laps of guests & our little apartment bursting at the seems with happy people. It made me feel warm & cozy inside.
This past weekend, instead of dressing up and going out for Halloween, my boyfriend and I snuggled up on my couch and watched scary movies. We drank wine, candles were lit, we eventually snoozed. It was bliss!
My husband surprised me at work in a very simple way, he just showed up and asked the receptionist to get me to come outside, so she called me and said I had to move my car. Then when I got outside he was standing there like “hey.” I gave him a big hug and snuggled into his wool sweater . . . it was such a delightful treat in the middle of my day.
A few days ago, I nearly crashed my car on an icy road while driving to work very early in the morning. I returned home, rather than going to work. I woke my partner up when I got home and we cuddled under a warm blanket, drinking hot apple cider as the sun started to rise outside the windows. The light that time of day is beautiful and I was so happy to be home, warm and safe.
We recently finished painting the room that will be our baby’s room come January. After we brought in the dresser and crib, and rolled out the carpet, I started putting away the few pieces of hand-me-down clothing we’ve received for the baby. Music was playing, the it was newly dark out, and we both just sat on the carpet in our new room and smiled.
Lately I have been ending each work day by taking the time to walk home through the park. With the cooler fall temperatures, each night I arrive home to eat a simple, warm dinner feels wonderfully cozy!
since i am a student, i spend little time with my fun and wild 2 year old…but i treasure the days when i’m home for nap time. we snuggle in bed and get cozy together as she falls asleep. since she is a busy girl, it’s the only time of day she is keen to get cozy with us and i know these moments won’t last much longer…
I’ve had some no good very bad days at work lately, but on those days that I leave work wanting to cry there is always some little reminder of how much I am loved — a note in the mail from my mom; an email from a friend in a different state that I get to talk to often; a surprise dinner from my boyfriend. Those are the little moments that can completely put your life in perspective.

i recently visited austin, texas and one afternoon some friends, my fiance and myself went to a giant outdoor swimming hole. cozying up on the blankets after a refreshing swim with the sun shining on our faces- that is the hygge moment that stands out in my mind right now.
I saw my parents last weekend and we had a simple brunch where we chatted like old friends. Then we walked around, taking in the beautiful scenery and appreciating the beauty in silence, with an implicit understanding between us as the wind whipped through our hair and the sun cast an orange light on the world below us. It was an unforgettable moment.
My most recent cozy moment was when I hugged my husband last week on our anniversary. I was 34 weeks pregnant and had my giant baby bump between us and we felt like a little family. Then baby kicked hard enough so my husband felt it – it was so sweet and hilarious. Even though the baby hasn’t been born yet, he/she needed to make sure their presence was felt. 🙂
We just moved to a different state about 2 weeks ago to be near my family again(yay!). We were going to stay with them until we found our own place. Well, we arrived very late one night and by the next morning a friend informed us of a place that just went up for rent. We looked inside, and I fell in love with the hardwood floor throughout, the wide molding, and old house charm. We moved here right before the leaves started getting brighter and seeing the leaves from the porch of our temporary rental home has been very cozy feeling.
i was just reunited with my best friend after 2.5 weeks apart. that hug at the airport was pure comfort and joy.
my husband and i took a trip to a small cabin in east tennessee for our anniversary. no phones, no computers, no tv. we built fires, hiked in the woods with our dog, and drank hot spiced cider. it was heavenly.
Watching the sing off last night after trick or treating, my very tired 14 month old sang along to every song–he was so sweet, he sang himself to sleep 🙂
Well.. as i’m mexican tomorrow is the “dia de muertos” that is the day when your beloved that are gone come to visit family, in this day we eath the favorite things of that persons, since my mom passed away 2 years ago, last weekend my brother, dady and I fulled the house with her favorite flowers and prepare her favorite dinner .. it was so nice be with family remembering mom!…
One small cozy joyful moment recently was visiting my best friend after she had just had here baby, my goddaughter. I guess it wasn’t small, it was HUGE! But just holding her and staring at her for hours and thinking how lucky I am to be her godmother. It was lovely.

Hearing my very best friend in the whole wide world’s brand new baby over the phone. We grew up together and are like sisters. But she lives in DC and I live in Minneapolis. Yesterday she held up the phone to her 5-day-old daughter and when I heard the little one cooing and humming, my heart exploded (and my eyes followed suit). I just started tearing up from joy. Sure, I wished I could be there. But I was mostly happy and proud of my friend. And I just can’t wait to meet that little bugger in real life–this Christmas!

i have the feeling of hygge most when i listen to great music. i love the feeling of being lost in the swirling sounds of a favorite band. at concerts there is always a glow to the room and a sensation of thrilling things yet to come. the best is when im lifted up off the floor on a wave of music nirvana and either find myself laughing or crying or both. when the band really connects with the audience and the lyrics fit (or seem to fit) what you are feeling at that moment completely. they get you and you get them. time seems to slow and you find yourself wishing the moment could last forever. at home, i try to set the same mood only a bit more mellow. light a candle or some incense, close my eyes and let the music flow over. remembering the movements and good cheer of the people around. i feel most “cozy” /pleasant/relaxed/at home.. when i listen to music. on vinyl the music sounds as rich and warm as if you were still at the concert. thank you for teaching me a new word to help describe this fantastic feeling. hygge …my new favorite word.
I am a brand spanking new homeowner of 3 whole weeks! Recently I had a good friend over and we cracked open a bottle of wine and decorated my great room. It was a wonderful night but the next morning I walked into my great room and just looked around and really felt that first “this is my space and my new beginning.” It was awesome!
My husband is deployed in Kuwait with the US Army since July (but away training since May). I’m a full time mom, wife, and graphic designer.
My hygge is FaceTiming with my husband, and seeing our daughter’s (15 months old) face light up at seeing her daddy. And watching them share a few laughs and giggles.
My home is most joyful and cozy late at night with a cup of tea and a good book.

One cozy small but joyful moment was when my soon-to-be husband took me out to Montauk memorial day weekend and took me to the light house that I have been wanting to visit from 2 year prior. Once we got there he took us to this small alcove of a pier facing the beach– and he gave the most awkward, quick, and nervous proposal ever. But it was most perfect because it was everything that I could ask for. (:
My husband and I recently spent a weekend away from the city. Our coziest moments were sitting in comfy chairs right next to each other, reading our favorite books….aahhh.
I’m a law student in Boston and last Saturday it was terrible outside – snowing, sleeting, all kinds of cold and wet. I spent the afternoon reading for school while my boyfriend worked on his own stuff at the desk next to me. As boring and tedious as studying is, it was kind of actually wonderful. We had a couple candles burning, mugs of tea, and could break up the studying with lunch and snacks breaks. And the storm outside made me grateful to be warm and dry inside.
I get to experience a cozy moment everyday—waking up next to my husband and dog and seeing them look so peaceful. it’s a moment i look forward to everyday.

A cozy moment I had recently happened at my aunt’s house on her 50th birthday. Our whole family was able to be together from across the US and it was so nice to be able to sit around with a glass of wine and enjoy everyone’s company!
Waking up Saturday morning to realize that my husband had gotten up with my toddler and started making us pancakes and coffee, while the baby kept sleeping. It felt like a holiday (normally our mornings are chaotic and start very, very early).
I didn’t know that is what Hygge meant….that makes it even more special. That is the motto I try to live by, though it isn’t always so easy for “worrywart” me. 🙂 What a beautiful giveaway, some of my absolute favorite wallpapers above, wow. Recently, we lost power in our town and as nighttime came; me and my hubby, little girls and our 2 dogs gathered in the living room, where the fireplace is and played games, read books and snuggled. Did we wish the electricity was on? yes. Were we cold? sort of. But, I also looked around the room and thought how incredibly lucky we were to be together & happy. I tried so hard to just enjoy that moment. I was grateful for it.

my definition of cozy is a late sunday morning, drinking coffee with my husband around the table in our robes – just like my parents used to do!
I’d say snuggling up with tea, the beau, and the pug to watch an episode of whatever TV show was on at the time during one of the few true fall days in Southern California
Hygge: My husband and I have been trying to conceive for several months. We found out yesterday that I’m not pregnant and we’ll have to wait another month. The moment my husband saw the expression on my face, he gave me a huge hug and held me until I felt better. At that moment, I knew that regardless how long it takes to have a baby, I have my best friend and the most wonderful man I know right by my side.
My moment of cozy involved appreciating what I have in the present. Within the last year and a half, I graduated college, moved across country, set up my first adult apartment, and started my career. It all hit me at once, just driving home from work, that I had transitioned to being an adult with relative success, and that I love everything in my life. And the best is yet to come! In the next year I hope to be able to buy my first place, travel extensively, and make my parents proud. Life is good!
my recent cozy moment happened last week… waking up to snow on the sky lights and snuggling with my new baby and puppy (oh and the husband too)!
I called my big brother, who moved away a couple of months ago, last Friday. We laughed, I cried, and we talked for hours. It was really nice to catch up with him again.
We had a freak snowstorm on Saturday – snow in Maryland in October is surreal. There wasn’t much of it, but I bundled my kids (ages 5, 3 and 1) and we had a snow ball fight and built a teeny snow man (about a foot tall, with chives from my still-green herb garden for a scarf, and little rosemary eyebrows). Then we came in and had hot chocolate and it was the most wonderful hot chocolate ever.
My husband and I recently bought our first house. It doesn’t get much better than sitting together on the couch in our new livingroom, discussing our plans, and knowing how lucky we truly are.
Since I don’t have kids, my nieces mean so much to me. The youngest one is very loving and recently we were just snuggling together, watching tv and I was very simply happy.
BTW, my other way of living vicariously through my brother (I live in a small LA apartment) is the new house he just bought, which of course, I want to decorate. My goal for Christmas vacation is to make the powder room perfect, and wallpaper and chair rail was my plan. This giveaway would be most excellent to win.

just a few days ago my boyfriend and I made a spiced applesauce cake together and then cuddled on the couch watching episodes of parks and recreation. bliss!
My 16 month old daughter and I were just waking up in bed. I was still trying to keep my eyes closed, but my daughter got right in my face and started kissing me awake! I can never wake up grumpy when she does that!

my cozy moment as of late, was carrying my wiped out three-year-old back home post trick or treating. his captain america costume was so padded with “muscles” and he was wiped out from running house to house. he rested his head on my shoulder until i plopped him into his bed.

what an amazing giveaway and translation for hygge. this makes me think of my bff, who recently decided to start yoga teacher training. she’s had a myriad of emotions ranging from overly stressful to pure bliss. she gave us an intimate private lesson amidst a winter storm and it was particularly cozy, small, and joyful, not just for us, but especially for her. she also converted another doubtful friend to the practice of yoga, which i know made her extremely happy and fulfilled. so i try to remember that inspiration comes from being open, physically and spiritually.

I was sick yesterday and took the day off work. I sat on my couch sipping warm tea and catching up on “Say Yes to The Dress” and my 60 lbs Standard Poodle pup came and nestled in next to me. On halloween, my boyfriend and I sat on our living room floor on a cozy rug with our pumpkins lit and pumpkin scented candles glowing on the fireplace. We ate candy and talked about our favorite Halloween moments. It was perfect.
Sleeping in bed with my baby boy! It was soo sweet and he was in such happy bliss that it made my heart melt. What a great giveaway!
101: In Korea, a bunch of English teachers and I went snowboarding and stayed at the resort. We had a whole room of bunk beds to ourselves, and we chatted and shared deep conversations the whole night over warm drinks and Korea’s underfloor heating while the snow was falling outside our window. So cozy!
My boyfriend and I recently went to my family house in the Sonoma wine country to celebrate our anniversary. After a delicious dinner, we snuggled up on the couch with a bottle of champagne and started reading a book outloud to each other, completely impromptu. The dog then joined us on the couch to make one big pile of cuddling and love.

My husband and I live in an apartment building that is populated primarily by college students and young families. Recently, over the Halloween weekend, we were woken up at 2am, 3am, and 4am by a very loud after party (and some additional yelling). We were already planning a trip a few hours North to his parents house, so we just got out of bed at 4am and left. After breakfast and some great conversation with his family, I snuck onto the couch in the living room to do some reading, only to find myself being woken up by my husband to take me to bed. It was 2 in the afternoon, but I run cold and he had laid in the bed to warm it up for me before letting me continue me nap. I’m a very lucky lady.
I’m making my oustside more cozy lately. That means color, restful spots to sit a cup a tea and a pillow for comfort. It means pulling pretty things together that feel natural yet clean looking. It will always mean having a place for friends and family to be close to me.
My 3 month old now recognizes me and smiles every time I go to get her from her crib!

My recent hygge moment happened when my partner and I stopped at a dark and humble-looking café in a tiny village to have bock beer and venison stew — two very autumny things. It was warm and cozy, and I could have stayed there talking and laughing over cold beer and warm food for ages.
I think hygge must be related to the Dutch gezellig, which also means a special type of cozy. It’s not very cool to say things are gezellig nowadays, but I still like the word. 🙂
In the past few months, I’ve gotten married, adopted a dog and moved into a little house. Recently, I found myself cuddled up on the couch with my husband, my little dog, and one of my two cats, with the other cat sitting nearby. It was such a great feeling to realize I had a family (even if it’s mostly made up of animals)!

This is easy. Saturday, in PJs with my toddler, watching “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown,” on the couch with a blanket on both of us. Perfection.
Every morning when our son wakes up, my husband goes downstairs to warm up his milk and I go get him out of his crib. Then the three of us get back into bed and snuggle while he drinks his milk. I cherish these moments because they will soon be over. I love my little family!
A silly little simple joyful moment was when I came home late from work last night (Halloween) and we stressing out that our buddies would be arriving in 15 minutes and I hadn’t even started cooking dinner. To my surprise and joy, there was my husband in the kitchen cooking up an amazing homemade Mexican rice and chicken soup (and he’s not the chef type, especially atempting something he has never made before). It tasted amazing and wow’d the crowd. I’m one blessed girl to be married to such a wonderful husband.
I had an absolute hygge moment this weekend when I hugged my 7-month old into my neck and he seemed to hug me back. I squeezed him tight and rocked back and forth and tried to freeze the moment in my mind forever.
Recently? My husband and I had just finished a homemade pizza and were drinking tea, cuddled up with a fire lit in front of us. Sitting there watching TV in each others arms, full, warm and happy- is one of those moments I’ll always cherish.

My most recent hygge moment that I’ll never forget is sitting in my bed with my sister surrounded by lit candles, and covered in mountains of blankets because we still didn’t have power or heat from the snow storm that tore through NJ over the weekend. We were bundled up, trying to stay warm, and listening to the same wonderfully cheesy 70’s love song over and over again. It’s been a while since I’ve laughed so hard. It really is the little things in life that make everything worthwhile.
One of my coziest and favorite moments is when my family went camping for Christmas. It was so nice to sit around a camp fire and just enjoy each other.

Yesterday my husband and I went in for our prenatal appointment. I wasn’t expecting much from the ultrasound, but then I saw and heard the baby’s heart beat for the first time and it made me catch my breath. It’s amazing how such a tiny thing, the size of a blueberry, can make you feel breathless. It is an unforgettable feeling that I will never forget.

My most recent “hygge” moment took place while I sat in my newly wallpapered sun room/office. I was working on the computer, surrounded by my favorite things – my books, plants and old b&w family photographs. My two dogs were cuddled up on their bed to my left and through my plantation shuttered windows I could see a squirrel feeding on peanuts from the squirrel feeder and cardinals feeding from the bird feeder. It’s these little everyday moments that bring me the most joy.
Going to one of my favorite neighborhood cafes on a Saturday to meet my best girlfriend and have a good talk. The coffee warmed my hands and our conversation warmed my heart. I love that we make time for each other in our busy lives.

The last cozy moment I had was when my nephew Collin allowed me to come into his tent and hang out for a few. We just layed there and I could barely fit in it, but we just chilled and I’ll always remember how it made me feel like a kid again.

A few weeks ago my husband was coming home late, so I grabbed my kids and their duvets and we snuggled up on the couch to watch a movie with their favorite snacks. The hygge moment for me was looking either side of me and seeing little tufts of hair from under the blankets, and hearing the giggles, and then having each child reach for my hand at more or less the same time. I still get the warm fuzzies just thinking about it.

A small, cozy moment I just experienced was feeling my sweet boy kick inside of me for the first time. I was sitting alone on a swing outside and Florida’s weather just turned a little cool and the sky was a cotton ball pink. We were alone for that moment and it was exciting and it was real. He’s really in there.

Here in Rio de Janeiro we have a very warm climate all year round, but even so, I developed a relaxing way to take a break during the day’s stress that is: take a nice bath with the lights out with my favorite soap and then take a green tea. It’s a little treat:)
My daughter who’s almost 2 caught a stomach bug this past weekend and spent the majority of it vomiting. By Sunday night I had caught it too and the both of us ended up home sick for Halloween. But despite being sick it was wonderful spending time away from work and school just being together cuddling on the sofa and eating soup. Needless to say last weekend was pretty cozy and joyful for us.

A couple weeks ago I traveled a few towns over to meet up with my brother and his girlfriend (they live out of state) for a backpacking adventure to the top of a mountain to stay in an old fire-lookout. My brothers girlfriend decided to stay back, and after the grueling 4 miles hike climbing 3,000 feet we built a fire to warm up. As we watched the sun setting behind the snow capped peaks, my brother announced that he was going to ask his lovely girlfriend to marry him on an upcoming vacation. The coziness of the cabin and the joy we shared over the big news reflect the meaning of hygge perfectly!
My twenty one month old son just learned to say “family hug” while giving my husband and I his biggest hug. He even initiates the family hug now.

My husband and I made it out to a friend’s cabin on the Cape for the last not-too-cold weekend. The ocean air was brisk, but we stayed warm with cups of chowder, a fire in the fireplace, and bourbon with hot apple cider. A perfect way to usher in the colder days of Autumn!

My favorite small cozy moments lately are playing with my kids on the floor. They both (at 2 and 1/2 and 1 yrs old, respectively) will climb into my lap and giggle as we tickle each other and snuggle up with me, grinning. My son has sensory issues so him being so into touch and play like that is amazing and to see the kindness between him and my daughter and I — there’s nothing more in this world I could ask for.
My boyfriend rides cyclocross and has races every weekend. I’m always out there in the cold running alongside and cheering him on. As part of my birthday present recently, he got me a big, colorful umbrella; a pair of wool socks; and a soft, striped sweater–all as a gesture of appreciation and to wear and stay literally warm and cozy as I watch him race. It was such a gesture of warmth and love!
My daughter was so sleepy after her first time trick-or-treating, she laid her head on my shoulder as I walked her back to our house. It was such a sweet moment snuggling beneath the fall leaves in the cool, crisp air.
I am in the midst of a beautiful cozy moment as I type this. My perfectly energetic two year old boy just nursed to sleep with me in the rocking chair. He only nurses a few times a day now, and I cherish these last fleeting moments of baby-hood and having a small moment to cuddle and kiss him.

As for the cozy moment, I would say the letter my father just wrote me for my 30th birthday! I feel tears coming to my eyes just thinking about it! And it was so sweet for me to read those words he never said, black ink on white paper!
I live in California so the weather is only cold for a little while. One night I opened my window by bed, I let my sheets and pillow cool, then I just laid on my bed taking in all the nigh time breeze. I also got to wear a billowy sweater and extremely comfortable sweats. This happened during mid terms week and it was a random moment where I just gave in to the idea of “taking a break” while studying.

A few weeks ago, my 3 and half year old son were discussing something he thought was silly, when suddenly he jumped on me and gave me a very tight hug. He gave me a kiss on the cheek, and one last nuzzle before looking at me, and saying “I love you, mama”.
My daughter climbed in to bed with me this morning and snuggled up to me and said “love you mama.” Doesn’t get better than that.
Sitting in front of the fire at the farm, playing board games while a huge blizzard raged outside… perfect start to the winter!
Today, I had a doctor appointment because I was worried about my almost-fainting spells recently. He completely reassured me that it was common and what to do to prevent it. Then, we listened to the baby’s heartbeat! It was so loud and strong and when he was about finished, I felt the baby move and we heard it on the dopplar! It was incredible and made me feel so warm and cozy in my heart.
My Hygge moment is when both my son and daughter come to wake me and my husband up in the morning. It just lovely to all cuddle up in bed together chatting about the day ahead and cuddling up and taking time for each other before the craziness of our busy day begins. xx

Snuggled up on the couch watching halloween movies. Spending the holiday “IN” was something we hadn’t done before. Wasn’t all that bad and I didn’t miss a single halloween event. I think we’ve created a new tradition.
The alarm clock is not my friend in the morning so instead I depend on our cat to come wake me up in the morning. His preferred method is to climb on top of my chest and occasionally smack my face with his paw. While it doesn’t sound cozy, something about waking up each morning with a large needy cat on my chest makes me feel needed and loved.
I am still trying to train the cat to bother my husband instead.
My sister literally just told me she is pregnant! This is the first baby in our family and I am thrilled beyond belief. I will never forget November 1st, 2011. What an amazing and exciting day!!
My hygge moment recently was bittersweet, as my son had the flu…but the silver lining was cuddling up on the couch and being able to just relax together.
One snowstorm, my husband of just a few weeks and I, ventured out on foot to explore the winter wonderland (we live in the south and don’t usually get much snow) and maybe scrounge up some groceries at a nearby shopping center (our food supply was getting skimpy). The grocery store wasn’t open but we were happy to find a little pizza joint open. So we wandered in and ended up sharing a lovely meal and conversation with several other strangers. It’s a happy little memory.
A recent cozy and memorable moment was simply finding the time to relax…laying on the sofa while watching a movie, as my new, white furball of a puppy slept beside me. 🙂

During last weekend’s snowstorm we lost power and our phone line came down. While I was on hold with our phone carrier, my 4-year-old daughter was curled on my lap, listening to the hold music. After I explained to her that the music was to entertain me while the phone operators were busy, she asked me if they were busy dancing. In that sweet little moment she changed forever the thoughts in my mind while I’m waiting on hold.

First of all I have to say that I was JUST on this site today daydreaming of redoing our computer room with one your your fabulous designs. My most recent moment of bliss came in a blast of firsts from my 9 month old son. He’s now pulling himself up on everything, feeding himself a bottle and food, and just yesterday he waved completely on his own at a woman in the check out line. My heart melted.
One of them just happened today. My 2yo daughter is always on a schedule, and never tired before lunch. But today, after Halloween last night, we were swinging on our front porch, and she snuggled up on me and started yawning away and dozing off into slumber. It was absolutely precious.
Sleeping in on Sunday and waking up to snuggles from my pup and husband. No better way to spend a weekend morning.

I went to New York for the second time in my life recently and I had a moment of joy while standing on the Brooklyn Bridge. It was outside and cold which doesn’t sound immediately cozy, but the sun was setting and I was so happy to be there.
My recent hygge moment would have to be what happened in the middle of the night. I’m 6 months pregnant and my husband has been beyond great. It has been getting chili at night and I woke up a couple of nights ago to my husband putting covers on me and tucking me in. When I woke up in the morning he said, “I woke up in the middle of the night and you didn’t have any covers on you. You looked so cold so I put the blanket on you.” It’s the little things that mean so much. He’s an amazing man and I can’t wait to see him as a father to our little girl. I got a good man for sure. He is my hygge.
Just last night we were snuggled up watching a terribly cheesy Halloween movie with the fireplace on, eating what was left of the candy. Those are the perfect cozy nights to me.
my husband (1 month and counting) works 24 hour shifts every few days. my awesome neighbors and friends knew i was home alone during the crazy snow storm last saturday and invited me over for hot whiskey cider and horror movies. they’re the best!

My coziest moments are those when me and my husband and our three kids huddle around a fire while playing board games, drinking hot cocoa and listening to music.
It’s just starting to get cool at night in South Texas. My husband and I just transitioned to our flannel sheets and it has been the most heavenly switch. We find that we’re going to bed earlier and lingering there longer. It’s so incredibly peaceful to be there together, reading side-by-side, all warm and safe and swaddled in flannel.

napping last sunday afternoon, during first cold snap of the year, snuggled in my favorite quilt from india, and waking up with my husband beside me, my dog licking my face and the afternoon light warm and beautiful through the plantation blinds.
I had a “hygge” moment about a week and a half ago. I went to the SF Symphony to see my old voice teacher perform in the choir. I hadn’t been to the Symphony in years (or seen my teacher in ages), so it felt like a real treat. Afterwards, I met up with my teacher and his partner for a late night dinner and drinks. The restaurant was okay, the food and drink were decent, but the conversation was both sparkling and warm. We talked about recent vacations and laughed over funny misunderstandings with friends and co-workers. It was a really fun, low-key evening.

My hygge happened Saturday afternoon when I was watching “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” DVD commentary (after doing yet another home project to make my new single lady apt reflect an air of confidence) which was explaining why her couch was put at an axis, when I realized that last week EYE too had put my couch at an axis for a change. I suddenly felt extremely comfortable with my new life and truly believed I would make it after all.
Reading “The Namesake” in front of my fireplace, glass of red wine in hand, wrapped up cozy in a blanket, with no noise but but the popping and snapping of the fire.
To me cozy is curling up with a great book or magazine in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine or mug of peppermint tea – wearing flannel PJ’s of course! 🙂
When I was a kid, my parents — intrepid outdoorsy types that they are — took my brother and I on a winter hike that involved marching for four hours uphill to Tuckerman’s Ravine and then skiing out for an hour. This natural snow basin in Mount Washington has long been a destination spot for hikers and back country skiers, and has always been a personal goal of my dad’s. When we got to the lodge at the top, my brother and mom stopped to warm up while my dad and I hiked a bit further. After clearing a particularly narrow pass, we finally turned around to look out over the mountain range and a sea of pine trees. It was below freezing and we felt like we were on top of the world, but to me, that connection with my father and that moment of sharing that image with him was a cozy one. It was and always will be what home feels like to me — and that’s sense of home is the coziest notion of all.

Pretty much every moment spent with my 6-month old niece is filled with joy, but especially when babysitting her a few weeks ago, I treasured every sweet second while I was rocking her to sleep.
My boyfriend and I tried to make Halloween especially spooky and fun for all of the kids who came to the house, and spending the afternoon getting everything just right was extra special.
A few weeks ago friends had their baby boy, born at 31 weeks. My husband and I visited them in the hospital and met him for the first time. Oh my! What a little peanut. Talk about a sweet hygge moment I will never forget…

last week… my husband and i visited friends and their 5 month old (dressed as the cutest little cow) fell asleep on me. his small, sleepy snorts were made me feel so content; it was a cozy moment indeed.
Recently on a trip to New York with my neighbors, we were caught in a surprise, wet snow storm. After trekking our way through Central Park from the Met to the Natural History Museum, we were completely soaked and needed a rest. We stumbled into a bar called Dive 75. We found bowls of chocolate candy and board games, to comfort us along with a warming drink. It was the most unexpected part, and one of the nicest, of our trip together.
My husband and I moved far far away right after our wedding and have been moving a lot since. We have had to learn to rely on each other and make our house a home, together. What I’ve learned is that to feel cozy and to feel at home is to be together no matter where we are.
my hygge: unpacking after having our belongings in storage for a year, and getting to arrange my beloved striped lucky rock collection on my windowsill again. each rock is gorgeous and has a special memory for me or my kids. feels like home again.

My husband, who is active duty military, is living in DC with our 10 year old while I stay in Tucson with our Senior in HS so he can graduate with his class. I just went to visit DC and it was FREEZING! It started snowing Saturday morning. My husband got up to make coffee and my 10 year old, hearing him go downstairs, climbed into bed with me. When I rolled over to snuggle with him, he grabbed my face and said he loved me. What was so moving…he said it with his eyes closed and whispered it. A picture forever in my brain!
Laying in bed with my 11 month old daughter and my husband before the sun is up in the morning is one of my favorite moments everyday. The gentle light brings a coziness to our little family.
last week, I awoke to seeing large snowflakes falling outside our open bedroom window here in pittsburgh. in the still of the early morning, my husband and two cats also on the bed, everyone quietly slumbering. I remember thinking I how lucky I am and curled back up and fell asleep … epitome of warm and cozy!
Cozy is cuddling up with the baby, my true love and best friend, and of course our giant dane, on a crisp Halloween evening, hot mug of cider in hand, tunes grooving, watching the flames dance in the fireplace late into the night. I was in the rocker with the little one, resisting putting him in his crib to selfishly stare in wonder and kiss on him just a bit longer. Daddy-O (still in costume) poured himself a whiskey, grabbed a peanut butter cup, and we smiled at each other thinking about how lucky we are to share this life together. The baby woke up and looked around half asleep, pointed at the big dane hogging the couch and said very clearly “dog”. My baby boy said his first word last night! Dog. I’ll never forget that moment.
My favorite cozy time is Sunday Brunch with my boyfriend. Nothing better than a good cup of coffee with my man.

For me, every night, my hubby and I go to sleep at the same time. And when we lay down, he always slips his hand on my belly. The warmth and pressure puts me to sleep in minutes, always with a smile on my face.
After getting engaged last week a snowstorm hit the east coast. My new fiance’ (feels funny typing that!), pulled the blinds all the way up and layed on our couch, cuddling, watching the snow fall and chatting about ‘forever’.
The cozy moment i just had was with my handsome man on our sofa. lying next to eachother, both of us a purring cat on the lap. Very relaxing, extremely cute and definitely cozy!
The recent “hygge” was with my niece. I’d recently had an ectopic pregnancy and was recovering from surgery when my sister-in-law and niece stopped by to visit. This sweet nearly 3-year-old came and looked up at me and said “I’ll make you feel better.” and gave me a big hug. Then she sat with me on the couch, stroked my arm and said “Don’t worry auntie, I won’t ever leave you.”

My 2 and half year daughter is obsessed with Alice in Wonderland and recently, while she sat on the couch watching the beginning of the movie, she called to me and said, “Mommy, sit!” I sat down next to her and she leaned her head and body into me, and put my arms around her, and we cuddled while watching Alice, particularly the scene about the Walrus and the curious Oysters!

My family & I will be moving across the states in about 2 weeks. We have already finished packing, including our living room furniture. A cozy, joyful moment we’ve had lately is just sitting the middle of the room, playing board games, or just talking.

I grew up on the Oregon coast, so waking up last week, opening the blinds, and finding fog so thick you could barely see past the parking lot to the trees beyond set my heart soaring. There´s something about fog that just feels cozy and safe, and as i stood and stared out of the window it was hard to get my head back into the day and the tasks ahead.

A friend of ours recently had a baby with down syndrome. I finally got to see him as his siblings and family trick or treated around the neighborhood. My husband and I took turns pushing him in the stroller as he studied our faces. Not having children of our own, it was such a sweet time to connect with a precious little boy, and share in the gratitude of a healthy and happy baby.
My coziest moment of all time: Holding my baby girl for the first time after the most wonderful homebirth with my husband, as the curtains were opened in the lounge and the sun streamed in.

My 4 year old son had a fever last night. I made a little pallet on the floor next to my bed so he could sleep close to me. In the morning, I watched him wake up, reach up for my hand and we both lay there for a moment, just holding hands.

My most recent Hyggee moment was last week when I found out I was pregnant after years of trying and had the best longest hug of joy with my husband.
Today is my son’s 8th birthday. I have had a gift sitting on top of our china cabinet that he has been bugging me to open ever day for the last two weeks. This morning at 5:30 I could hear a rustling noise and came out to see. My son had climbed up and retrieved his gift! Before the sun came up we sat on the floor with my warmest blanket wrapped around us while he opened his gift. I know this will be one of my all time cherished moments with my son!

Last Thursday night all my girlfriends and I hung out to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Normally we go out for birthdays but this year we stayed in and had good food, sipped wine, chatted, caught up with each other. It was perfect, I’ll never forget!
What a wonderful question…My Hygge moments are when the days get shorter and its cool and breezy outside, the house smells like warm apples and spices, dinner simmering away in the oven. Snuggly sweaters, cozy blankies and crackling fires warm the chills, while hubby and I sit on the loveseat reading and our daughter is at the coffee table doing her homework yelling at our puppy (a half pug & half chihuahua mashup) to stop biting her toes.
My recent hygge moment was snuggling up with my 7 month old niece. She is the sweetest baby you will ever meet, and while we were snuggling she grabbed my cheek, gazed into my eyes and had the biggest smile on her face. We were feeling the love, so sweet!
For me it’s definitely having personal things in my home. Almost everything we have has a story…some much better than others. Everywhere we travel we bring home something to remember the trip by. Another thing is corks, we have a large glass jar in our kitchen that houses our corks (we look like major winos) On most of them we write the date and who we shared it with, where we were, etc. It’s a wonderful reminder of all we have to celebrate.
Celebrating this first day of november by baking mint chocolate cookies to share. Nothing says cozy like the smell of sweets in the oven.
My boyfriend and I have been living together for 2 years now, and it is pretty typical to get into routines with things- but we try to keep thigs entertaining and do things for each other that make each other know that we are always thinking of them and how much we love them- for instance; just the other day, we had our first frost, and he left for work about 3 minutes before I did, but took the time to scrape off both of our vehicles do I wouldn’t have to stand in the cold. It is the small things that I believe add up in relationships- friendships, intimate, family, etc.
It would probably have to be the last time I visited my niece. I put my face in front of hers and she reached out and grasped my face in her cute little hands for the first time. It melted my heart!
My recent cozy experience was while waiting in the tiny examination room at my doctor’s office. I had two of my daughters with me (ages 4 & 10) and the youngest one wanted to play doctor to pass the time. She folded her arms across her chest and began to ask her sister questions: Do you have a tummy ache? Do you have a fever? Do you have a headache? Do you have pains? Do you have sneezies? Do you have chills? …It was so funny to hear her running through a list of ailments. When she said “chills”, the oldest and I laughed until we cried.
I recently drove down to visit my grandparents and pick up some items from them. I wound up sitting at the kitchen table with my grandma for 3 hours, eating pasta topped with her delicious, fresh, homemade tomato sauce and listening to her telling me stories about growing up in NYC, meeting my grandpa, what my mom was like growing up, and her recent trip with my grandpa to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. It was such a wonderful afternoon!
Some of the best moments recently have involved enjoying the fall weather as much as possible. This past Sunday my boyfriend and I had lunch, walked around our neighborhood enjoying the beautiful weather and then came home to watch scary movies together 🙂

I was soaking in the hot tub during the middle of the day out in our backyard and noticed all these little yellow finches on the wires. They reminded my of my late grandmother who used to keep little bird like them. It was as if she was there with me. It made my feel so happy!
A recent cozy moment was when my boyfriend and I visited the pumpkin patch and we sipped cider to warm our hands and belly as we rode a boat out to the patch. It was such a beautiful and peaceful day, so sharing it with a loved one was even more perfect!
Last Saturday night, I fell asleep in front of a bonfire, wrapped in blanket I had knitted, after carving pumpkins with my friends and family. It was a perfect moment.

My one and a half year old son has always been very attached to his daddy. ‘Daddy’ this and ‘Daddy’ that. It wasnt until one long day at work I came home to find him look me right in the eyes with a happiest expression on his face and say ‘My Mommy’.
One cozy moment in my life is right now. As I type this my adorable french bulldog, Otto, is curled up right next to me. Literally, leaning against me. He is like a tiny heater in this winter cold.

My hygge moment was a couple of months ago – my husband came home from a 6-month deployment in Iraq and I picked him up from the airport. We have three cats, and one in particular was really depressed the entire time he was away. When we walked in the door for the very first time, this particular cat was waiting for us at the top of the stairs. My husband walked up to him, and our cat immediately head-butted him as if to say, “Hi! I missed you!” So sweet.
I forgot to answer the question… when i got engaged (finally) a few months ago! because it was in our new home!
There are too many cozy moments in my life. But I love the feeling of snuggling on the couch with bf and a blanket after a night out dancing. The relief of removing your feel from a pair of heels and getting all warm is amazing.
Last year, I just ended a year-long engagement and three-year relationship. I was devastated but resolved. It was a very difficult time until I met Bill who makes me laugh at everything and uses his whole face to communicate with me without words. My coziest moment was lying on a blanket at 3 AM [after some day drinking and an early!!!! 4 PM unintentional bedtime] on the roof of my porch, under a huge dark sky with him just smiling inanely and helplessly at each other. It’s weird to say I felt cozy in that moment out in the open Oakland nearly-starless night but I did.
My cozy moment was on monday night, during my pregnancy yoga class. I was curled up for rest time, and our teacher asked us to visualize what peace meant to us and our babies. I instantly had the most wonderful vision of me, snuggling up with my newborn daughter breastfeeding, and her big sister nestled in beside us. All 3 hugged together and loving every minute. I hope it turns out to be as dreamy as that vision!
Being in the same city as my family and getting to see them often is my hygge. I love knowing that they’ll be by my side for life – there’s a comfort in that.

A few days ago, I was sitting on my couch and my boyfriend was stretched out beside me. Our cat curled up beside him and as I reached for my camera to immortalize this adorable moment, he reached up and petted her nose with one finger. Hearing yesterday that we no longer need to go to our high risk pregnancy doctor because our baby girl is looking perfect now. After a scary start, this is such wonderful news!
My cozy moment was on this past Sunday. It took place on my tiny patio where my almost 4 yr old granddaughter was getting a ‘hands on’ painting lesson from me. I had spray painted the 40+ yr old rocker that my dtr (her Auntie) had been given by her grandparents – ‘ballet slipper pink.’ That made a nice background color for little colored stencil designs of butterflies, flowers, polka dots, birds and ladybugs. Maddie was feeling very playful so I pretended that I was going to paint her nose with pink paint and then she painted mine before I could get paint on her little nose. Of course I quickly put a dab of pink on her nose and we both doubled over in laughter! I love simply entertaining my granddaughter at home by sharing fun experiences that also teach her something new.
My recent joyful and cozy moment was when I took a perfectly hot bath and let the stress of being a first year law student wash away! Such a special and yet, insignificant moment in the grand scheme of things. Sometimes we just need to take care of ourselves with a little *hygge*

just a few days ago, my husband and i had this moment where i did this funny little happy dance. he instantly copied it and it filled me with so much joy.
The boy I’ve been crushing on drove three hours at 4 am to take me to the most wonderful hike. The great little moment was sitting in his car and sharing the hot chocolate he brought in his thermos while we watched the sun come up from the trail head.
Sipping steaming hot chocolate and watching the swirling snow outside my window – and describing the hygge moment to my fiance on skype an ocean away.
My hubby and I sat outside on Halloween, waiting for the trick or treat-ers. We were bundled up, with a glass of wine, talking. We talked and talked, which we never get to do. A few hours later we realized that only 3 people had stopped by, but we didn’t mind sitting out in the cold because we were enjoying each others company too much. My hubby is my hygge.
A cozy moment that I’ll never forget… snuggling in bed with husband and then our 5 year old daughter squeezes right between us and we all end up snuggling and giggling. 🙂

One cozy moment I will never forget was recently finding a small community garden in the city and enjoying the beauty and serene environment it offered.
Right this instant, I’m on the couch with my cat curled up at my side. Utterly hygge! Oh now he just rolled over onto his back. Oh man. So cute.
We moved and have been renovating our place while nearly all of our belongings are in storage. My husband and I have been sleeping on an air mattress/memory foam combo on the floor for five weeks, and I am in my eighth month of pregnancy! This arrangement has led to some joyful and cozy moments with our two boys, though. They are ages two and four, and it has been so easy for them to climb up on our bed and enjoy cuddle time together as a family. We haven’t had my husband around much for the past couple of years, due to work, and this has been a joyful, fun time for our family!

Yesterday: One of my sleepy 3 yr old twins coming out of her room, hair a tousled mess, snuggled in my lap, gave me a great big hug and said “love you Mama” all before she even looked at me. She was warm and squishy and smelled like Lili- her own distinct smell- which I love, even with the hint of morning breath. Who would have ever thought that being a mother would mean you finally loved the smell of morning breath and would yearn to kiss those soft little lips. There is nothing better.
The best thing I received for my birthday was a handmade cut out card from my boyfriend! The thought and the time that went into it was the best thing anyone could receive!
Last weekend, I got to go home for my fall break, and it just so happened that my closest friends could return from college as well. In the midst of the changing leaves and dropping temperatures, we all got to gather around a fire with hot chocolate and catch each other up on life. It was simply perfect.
My favorite hygge moment as of late would be, a raining evening at home on the couch with my hubby watching the storm roll in over Lake Washington in our new house…( glass of wine in hand of course!).

My hygge moment that I’ll never forget was about 2 months ago.. It was Friday and I had a terrible day at work. I went home to my BF and a lovely home-cooked meal (the same as the first one he had made for me years ago when we first started dating) waiting for me. The baseball game was on and we just spent the night enjoying each other’s company, the deliciousness and sentimental value of the meal, and the baseball game. Low and behold, he brought out a ring to propose right then and there on our living room couch. Best moment ever!

Life in L.A. means being on the go…and then you go and go and go. Thankfully, my boyfriend cares enough to make me press the pause button and rest on the weekends. Sundays afternoons are our time to wrap ourselves up in our comforter and take a long snooze in bed with our kitty. When I’m dozing off and it’s just the 3 of us all warm and snuggly in the bed together, I can’t imagine anywhere else I’d rather be, or anything else that feels more cozy.

This past weekend we had a surprise snowstorm. I love winter and snow but this felt a little early. To make it fun I cooked some yummy split pea soup and made homemade popovers for dinner. My husband and I ate dinner while watching the snowflakes fall. Later we finished off the night with a competitive game of Scrabble. Being close to my husband – in our cozy house, in a freak October snowstorm is my hygge moment.

At my recent wedding, a close friend told me that both my parents had separately come up to her to thank her for what a God-send she was in my life. They were truly thankful that she has come into my life. I never realized just how much I appreciated this person until that moment. I’m so glad that they made me realize this. My parents always make me feel warm and cozy on the inside!

We have many joyful moments in our home especially having a 3 year old daughter. She loves dressing up especially in mommy’s shoes. She will put on a pair and walk slowly over to the mirror and look at herself. It just warms my heart watching her smile at herself. One particular joyful moment was when my daughter wanted to pick out my outfit for me one morning. She got into my closet and picked out some running shorts with a button up and black high heels. She insisted that they were beautiful and that I should wear them. It just made me laugh.

My hygge moment was this summer – hanging our on a friend’s balcony on a warm night with 4 very dear friends until 5am, having great conversations about our friendship and love for eachother. It was dark and we could barely see eachother but something about the darkness made us very close.
My perfect cozy moment recently has been waking up every morning and gently rubbing my baby bump. Just knowing a little, sweet person is growing in there, gives me strength and inspires me to start a new day.

I’m finishing college soon (scary!) and am in the midst of final projects. After working on my computer for a while, I looked up to see all 5 of my rescue cats snuggled on the bed with me. I know it’s hard to say I have that many without sounding crazy, but they’re my babies and I love them! They are the best to snuggle with in the winter.
After years of living alone, I’ve recently moved into a house with three roommates. I forget how lovely people can be. I thought I would be annoyed, feel like its college all over again, but instead we are all grownups together. This past weekend, my husband and I were able to attend (/I was a bridesmaid in) the wedding of two of my close friends from my hometown. Being surrounded by all our friends from back home gave me such warm fuzzies that I cried when I was hugging the bride goodnight! I didn’t even cry at my own wedding, but being back in town, surrounded by so much love and laughter and genuine friendship, I was struck by how beautiful it is to bring people together like this.

Aw, good question. My husband and I just moved to a northwestern state (from Louisiana) and had our first real snow this week. We bundled up in recently purchased snow gear and went traipsing about, holding hands and taking photos of each other. Love.

Enjoying a homemade meal with family–macaroni & cheese and apple crisp (with ice cream, of course) for dessert. Our various schedules do not allow us to eat together very often, so it felt special and comforting.
We’d planned a romantic meal in just myself, my man… and Otto the cat, when we heard something tumbling down the stairs. I ran through to see that Otto had stolen our frozen lobster from the sink and wrestled it up the stairs. As we stood there looking at the strangest scene and his little smug face we melted and decided to let him have his conquest and we ordered a curry and snuggled up on the sofa. As a new mother I’ve been lucky enough to have lots of small, cozy, joyful moments with my baby this year. Most recently having my baby boy stroke my face while cuddling on my lap was definitely a hygge moment.
my (daily) hygge is our 3 little girls and our cat climbing into our bed in the mornings for a snuggle with us, its a sweet moment of calm before the inevitable mad rush to get to preschool, school and work.
My No. 1 cozy moment was on the new sofa with my boyfriend after a day of renovating our apartment when I realized that I love every room of our little home (and the one I share it with) because it finally looks like us! So much!
My most joyful moment was being able to see my mom, dad and sister for the first time since I had moved to Amsterdam from Toronto, Canada. We spent two wonderful weeks together, so it was definitely hard to see them leave (I cried as soon as they left me at security). I love my family!
When I wake up in the morning, my partner and I spend at least 10 minutes snuggling before getting ready for work everyday. It’s small, but it definitely starts the day out wonderfully. 🙂

What gorgeous wallpaper! Just a few hours ago, in the wee hours, my 3yr old got out of bed, came into our room, stretched out his arms, gave me a great big hug & climbed into bed beside me without a word & was asleep in seconds. Cuddly bliss.
We may not have the most expensive or trendy furniture in our house, but what we lack in trends, we gain in family photos. I have blown up many wacky family photos and have placed them throughout the house of my son, as well as my husband and I. These are what make my home cozy – being surrounded by the important things and being able to share those memories with guests to our home.
We recently found a small, sick kitten on the street and nursed her back to health. The first morning she felt well, she jumped on my lap and started purring! Warm, cozy and happy.
During the unexpected snow storm last weekend, I was visiting friends at their farmhouse in WV. We woke up Sunday morning to a field blanketed in snow and sunshine. We grabbed some hay bales and sat outside on their porch drinking coffee and laughing. Perfectly cozy.

Sitting in our living room, I realized that after a year and a half of painting, ripping out asbestos tiles and all sorts of renovating our house is finally feeling like home. Sitting in our living room surounded by new things, old things and found things I realized that in the bustle of renos our home has slowly tranformed itself into a reflection of who we are. Recently I experienced hygge the weekend before Halloween. Friends and I had a bonfire get together and as I was wrapped in blankets by the fire, I looked around at all the people I love most in this world and felt so joyful!
Just two days before Halloween, we were blitzed with a blizzard-like snowstorm. The power went out, and stayed out, for almost 24 hours, and my fiance and I got to appreciate the little things in life that we are often too busy to even notice. We frolicked in the snow with our dogs, lit every room with clusters of candles and made dinner over the fire in our chiminea. It was such a magical, cozy time that I was disappointed once the lights flickered back on that evening because we had to head back to reality.
Curling up with my husband and dog during this unexpected Halloween snowstorm was a really nice, cuddly moment I’ll remember for a long itme.
As for my cozy moment, it was about a week ago–when a massive hail storm threatened the skies in Montreal. I was doing laundry when the skies opened up. I made tea, snuggled up with a fluffy comforter, and a mystery novel and sat next to my working dryer watching the storm. The shivers that ran through me as the thunder clapped and the sound of the hail rang loundly was drowned out by the warmth of the dryer and my tea– At that moment, I realized how lucky I am to have roof over my head. I truly appreciated this oddly soothing and exceptionally cozy moment. 🙂

My boyfriend and I just moved into a new place. We are so excited to begin a new chapter in our relationship at this great new apartment we picked out together. Last week I was relaxing on the couch reading a magazine and he was making dinner (I know I am a lucky lady). When he caught the oven on fire somehow. It was just a small fire and we cleaned everything up together. But, the best hygge moment was after we finished the clean up we sat down on the couch and snuggled laughing at how ridiculous it was that we haven’t lived at our new place more than a month and we’ve already had a fire. It’s just so nice to have someone you can laugh at things like that and be thankful that nothing worse had happened and we were safe and loved by each other.

Last weekend my friends and I spent time on my boyfriend’s farm. We made a delicious dinner and everyone contributed and crowded in the kitchen and then sat and enjoyed it on a dark, cool, fall evening. We drank cider and beer and enjoyed each other’s company and telling stories.

Oh, I’m sincerely need this for my upcoming twins nursery! My recent hygge moment was when some very close friends had us over for dinner, and surprised us by telling us they’re pregnant, due just 5 weeks after us! After my husband and I struggled for over a year to get pregnant (and eventually did through IVF) I was concerned my friend (who is considered “of advanced maternal age) would have problems conceiving. It’s so comforting (to all 4 of us, I think!) to be going through this new and exciting parts of our lives together!
Last night, I sat next to my 3 year old daughter’s bed. As she was gently braiding my hair she leaned over and said, “So, mommy, tell me about your day!” Cozy moment, indeed.

My “cozy” moment of late would be snuggling up with my husband and two dogs on Halloween evening. After dinner, we handed out candy to the cutest trick-or-treaters, jumping up and racing to the door seeing who could open it first as they came. We ended the evening by snuggling up with our sweet rescue pups and watching a movie. It’s little moments like these that are truly the blessings in life. I really love going for walks in the fall with a cozy scarf, holding on to my boyfriend with one and a hot coffee in the other. Its my favourite time of year.
Now that it is getting colder and I’m indoors more often, I do more domestic things. I made some ghost cookies for my Son’s Kindergarten Halloween party. I love being home and making stuff; that’s the coziest thing I can think of.
After trick-or-treating with my 11-month old son, I gave him a bath, put on his pajamas, and tickled him so much that we both laughed so hard and so long we were out of breath. That was an unforgettable few hygge minutes!

My cozy moment was last week when my husband was home after working away for 20 days. The best night we had, on one of his 10 days off, before leaving again, was sitting on the couch, watching tv and just holding hands. Nothing that week compared to it, not the great play we went to or even the awesome Foo Fighters concert.

We have three baby chicks, and if it is sunny, they go into a pen outside to scratch like big chickens. When I pick them up to bring them back in, they immediately fall asleep in my hands, they are exhausted from their “play day”. It’s just too sweet.
My cozy nest = sleep number bed + heated mattress pad + flannel sheets + 2(siamese cats) + son stopping in for a snuggle!

I took my one-year-old daughter trick-or-treating for the first time, with some friends and their kids. It was the first time I’d gone since I was a kid, it was sweater weather, slightly rainy, and getting dark so early. Listening to the giggles and watching them run up to each porch made me excited to relive my childhood memories again through the eyes of my little girl.
Mine was last week when I went to visit my sister that I had not seen in over a year and we took a drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Tennessee. There was one part of our drive where we got out of the car and we were surrounded by natures paint pallet of fall colors and we were speechless at the sight of the Smokey Mountains in front of us. They just kept going off into the distance it seemed forever. There were so many mountain peaks I could not even count. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I felt so small but so lucky and happy to be here. I’m glad my sister and I were able to share that moment. I love you Sarah!
I went to my 6-yr-old son’s class to volunteer and he was so excited to see me when I walked in the door that he couldn’t hold still. It made me feel so loved!

My recent cozy moment was being in our new sun room in our first home watching our house go through inspection. As we go into winter, and taking a look around our new gorgeous home, I can’t wait to get comfy in front of our new fireplace. We saved for so long to buy a house and it all seems so surreal to finally see it all come together.
Since it is so rare, a cozy moment I have had and appreciated lately is having dinner at home. Nothing is more cozy and joyful then making dinner for someone special and sharing it with them!

A recent cozy moment was snuggling in bed with my boys … the perfect start to any day.
Early in our relationship, my now-husband bought an assortment of toothbrushes, so that I could have one at his house. He wanted to give me a selection of colors to choose from. It was such a small act, but it made me feel so comfortable!
Just an hour ago, my five-week old firstborn woke up from his nap with a dirty diaper. I was in the middle of wiping the mess off his bum when I looked at his face – he was looking at mine, smiling ear-to-ear. Nothing compares!

A few days ago we had a snowstorm in NYC. In October. My boyfriend and I opened our curtains wide, cuddled up with our dog and some pumpkin lattes and simply watched the snow fall. It was an instant dose of cozy.
Just five minutes ago, I walked through the warming afternoon with a paper bag filled with bread, tea, milk, and pickles. Nothing like eating a small composed lunch in your own sunlit apartment.

We’re in a little rental that we’re quickly growing out of, so I currently have a love-hate with our home.
However, I love going upstairs to the master bedroom in the afternoon. Frequently I put our 2yr old down for a nap in there, because it’s the quietest room in the house. When I go and wake her up mid-afternoon, I pull open the curtains, and the lighting is absolutely perfect. She’s pink and warm and cozy after her nap, and oh-so-snuggly, so I crawl into bed with her. We play and snuggle and read books for at least 1/2 an hour after nap-time is over, in the warm light on the bed. These moments I love this house, with the seaweed plaster walls, because it’s the place where my daughter came home from the hospital to, where she’s grown to be a joyful and loving toddler.
Winning the wallpaper would be a great way to make our future house purchase into our forever home, where I can continue to have these little moments with the sweet girl.
My mom and I have been meeting on Saturday mornings to walk around a local park. We grab a hot coffee and hit the road pretty early. Surrounded by trees turning various shades of red and gold, sipping on a pumpkin spice something and talking about the week behind and the one ahead: pure comfort and a total celebration of fall.
My moment was watching my 2 year old go get a snack, and before he ate any, he made sure everyone in the room had one first. A little thing or some, but for a first time mom, it was everything.

I won’t forget our recent move (4 days ago) into our newly purchased townhouse..while I’m currently 36 weeks preggers with our 1st baby! I like the large windows that let lots of natural light in. I also like the walls we took out to give it a more open floor plan, it seems counter intuitive that openness= cozy but for me it does.
Picking up my puppy and bringing her home for the first time was one small, cozy, joyful moment I experienced recently. She just snuggled with me in the car, so sad to be leaving her mom and brothers and sisters…but took comfort in my arms.
Although I’ve experienced this three times before, feeling my fourth baby kick fills me with joy and peace every time. Motherhood is the most amazing gift.
The rare occasion I wake up before my 10 month-old little baby girl and get to snuggle up to her warm little body (we co-sleep, BTW) and get to just study her sweet little face while she’s off in baby dream-land. Of course, she wakes up about 10 minutes later.. but the moment sure is precious while it lasts.
While my husband is Dutch and I am American we have Danish as a common language as we both lived there in different parts of our lives and as we’ve just moved into our first house together hygge-sig is a big part of our decorating. It’s the three of us (a very pregnant me, my husband and two year old) molded in bean bag chairs, covered with fluffy blankets with a stack of books to read to our daughter before bedtime. That’s hygge.

My moment came while spending a long weekend at a Buddhist monastery in South Korea. I had just finished 3:00 AM prayers, wobbled back to my hut (one hundred bows while chanting on 3 hours of sleep, ouch) and collapsed onto my thin sleeping pad on the wooden floor. I only had a couple thin blankets, but I’d never felt cozier or more content.
My girls are 3 and 5, and they were thrilled with the candy they brought home on Halloween. The three year old was organizing hers and checking to see if her sister got the same. She asked, “did you get goldfish?” And the 5 year old said, no. The 3 year old said “okay, we’ll share those.” Warmed my heart and made me proud.

My 3 year old was trying to comfort her 3 month old sister on Halloween by singing “rockabye skeleton” to her. (Baby was dressed as a skeleton). Best night!
my two dear friends just got married, and on their wedding night we were all in the woods sitting around fires cooking s’mores! it was delightful.
My cozy moment was just this week when I gathered up my three kids and started spontaneously dancing and singing in our living room. We kept falling in laughter enjoying each others company.
My four year-old and I hiding in the closet so daddy won’t find us for a bath. We hide there every night, same place because she thinks its the most hidden place of the entire house. Even though we do this night after night she still thinks daddy won’t find us. While we wait and daddy pretends to look for we snuggle in the dark in the closet…lots of giggles, hugs and kisses and shhhh he is coming!!
I am in the midst of college so cozy and relaxed is rare. But recently I would have to say it was laying in my bed after a really long day of classes, having nothing due the next day, wearing my fuzzy socks, and watching Project Runway. The perfect night.
It’s so pretty!!!! I really like the top 2 wallpapers!!!!!! I think for me, that hygge was last week when I was passing by the harbour and coming across a live performance with great music while there was a cool breeze of wind passing by from time to time(which usually never happens), and then taking a ferry with tourists on board, and watch them being amazed by their first experience being there. It just makes me feel peaceful.

Mmm. A recent ‘cozy’ moment happens most Saturday mornings, when my personal barista (aka husband) brings a latte in my hand-made mug to my bedside, while I cuddle with the kids and read to them. All the while I smell the pancakes being made and am thankful for my life.
Today–one small, cozy, joyful moment was cuddling with my newborn by the fireplace while my 3 year old created a giant race car out of packing boxes and tape
I prepare my evening tea, and settle into my comfiest chair with my computer. I ring my mom on skype and there she is, settled in with her own hot tea. So we chat and have our tea together, each sipping from grandma’s teacups, despite being 400 miles apart.
Spring (or early Summer!) hit us early here in Australia this year, and I still haven’t managed to use up all our frozen jam fruit from a massive bumper crop year. So a few weekends ago I spent a day in the kitchen chopping, simmering, stirring and bottling up the last of the beautiful ruby-red plums, thinking what lovely Christmas presents they would make in the upcoming season. After a hot and tiring afternoon in the kitchen my partner came up behind me and I leaned against him, and we stood there simply unwinding and loving each other while the jars cooled. In that moment it really hit me how happy I am to be at a point in our lives where we have each other, we have our home, and we can spend our time doing things like preserving the fruit that we grew and picked with our own hands to share with our friends and family throughout the year.
I don’t know if my idea of what hygge means is right, but in that one small everyday moment I felt incredibly grateful for our lives together.
I accidentally locked my 3 year old nephew out of the house while I was showering in the bathroom. He waited outside with his mom for 10 minutes until I came out. I felt so bad that I gave him a hug and said sorry. He looked at me with his gentle eyes and said, “Auntie, just don’t lock me out again okay?” It was such a warm heartfelt moment to be forgiven by a 3 year old.
being late in picking up my son at his preschool, i saw him first through the glass door of his classroom. he was clearly waiting for me because he was staring blankly at the door. when he realized it was me peeking through, his face was indescribable! i saw the evolution of a true, heartfelt smile light up his face. i’ve never seen any smile as genuine as that in such a long time!!!

every Sunday since I moved out from home, my family and I have Sunday night dinners. My dad and I pore over cookbooks, select a recipe and go shopping at the local farmers markets for ingredients. The joy I have when I’m together with my family and cooking with my dad is so comforting – if I’m having a bad day, I think of these moments with my family and I know that I’m so lucky to have the family I have.
Since the nights are getting dark here in England, instead of turning the central heating on, me and and my husband light lots of candles and bundle up on the sofa with blankets and hot toddies! Bliss.

I had a baby girl seven weeks ago, and while I’m nursing her in the middle of the night, she looked up and smiled at me! Milk ran out of the corners of her mouth and it was adorable. Quite the snuggle moment!

My 4-yr-old greeted me at my bedside last week with a little drawing that said “FOR MAMA.” It was the first time he wrote anything besides his name, and he did it on a day that was potentially stressful for me. My heart–and stress–melted.

How wonderful to read everyone’s comments about their latest hygge moment. A couple weekends ago, I got to spend some time with my best friend who moved across the country. We spent the evening in our hotel room, put on the complimentary leopard print robes, and opened a bottle of wine we’d picked up at the hotel bar. We sat in bed and talked, laughed, and even cried a bit. It was certainly a night of friendship, love, and appreciation for the simple things!
On devil’s night, my husband and I got a box of pumpkin donuts and apple cider from the cider mill, and curled up on the sofa in our pajamas to watch American Horror Story and The Walking Dead. Cozy & Creepy!

I live in a big apartment in New York with four other roommates. In most places, it would probably be considered a faux pas to be 26 and live in the equivalent of a sorority house, but in New York it’s par for the course. I am so lucky in that my roommates are not only my friends, but like my family. My cozy memory is from about a week ago when we threw our annual Fall party. Everyone baked and ate and all ended up curled up on the couch with a giant blanket until the wee hours of the mornings. It was absolutely Hygge! I should also mention we all met through Craigslist!

What a great giveaway! My husband and I recently moved into a new place, and learned upon moving in that the water and gas had been shut off (issues with previous tenants). A lovely moment recently was coming home from a ten day trip to Glasgow (where I am from originally)… everyone asks how it feels to go ‘home’ not realizing that *coming home* was walking through our front door in Belfast and closing it behind us, hugging my partner Ryan and our pup and being so VERY happy with our little life and arriving back in it after a long journey and just being ‘us’ again.

The last time I saw my 3-year-old niece was ten months ago before moving to New York and I finally had the chance to visit my family in Hawaii this past week. Before I left, my niece came back to give me a hug for the second time. My sister-in-law told me after she ran away, “Shania said, ‘I won’t forget her this time.'” I’ll cherish that memory for the rest of my life.
Our fifteen year old daughter was not feeling well a couple of weeks ago and crawled into our bed with me, put her head on my chest like she did when whe was not so big, and fell fast asleep…I love those moments with my girls and I will always remember them!

My boyfriend and I recently adopted a cat. After a few weeks of sleeping on the floor, she moved to sleeping at the foot of the bed. A few weeks after that she tentatively climbed up on my chest as I lay in bed, I petted her and she settled down and purred.
She’s not a lap cat so I really enjoy the small moment of her laying there and purring.
my favorite cozy moment lately is when i go pick up my 3 year old from preschool 2x a week. her 1yo brother is always so happy to see her and we like to run towards each other for a big three way hug that includes lots of giggles and kisses between siblings.
when my husband cures my pregnancy cravings (or aversions) by making/finding me something to snack on. not lifting a finger in the kitchen the last few weeks has made me feel so pampered and loved!
A few days ago, my husband and I decided to move to Chicago after he finishes grad school. We spent the evening on our couch looking at apartments online and talking about starting a new life and a family in Chicago. It was lovely. 🙂

My cozy moment was just today when I held my new baby nephew Remi for the first time! Such a cutie. 🙂
My cozy moment is coming in a month. I get it twice a year, always. It occurs at my Grandparents house every visit. They have a tiny bed in the guest room, one of those beds covered in 8-10 different pillows collected over the years. It sounds ridiculous, but I love waking up in that bed, surrounded by pillows which I use as a blanket because the air conditioner is always way to low, and the smell of bacon is in the air. This is how I wake up every morning there, and I love it. To me, that is the definition of cozy.
my husband and I live are currently living with his parents and his grandma; our room has no door (no privacy at ALL). So, the other day we took a trip to ATL and stayed at a nice hotel and enjoyed our private moments in silence. It was a special evening, snuggling in a bed before we went to sleep- just two of us 🙂

I am a messy person, but I hate messes. It is a problem. Recently, though, I bucked down and gave my bedroom a very thorough cleaning, and then I was able to enjoy a blissfull weekend in bed with my fiance, in a room that smelled like clean sheets and lavender, and watch netflix and drink apple cider. Not the most useful way to spend my time, but certainly much more hygge.
My small cozy moment was after an especially hard day at work I came home to my boyfriend and 2 cats napping in our comfy bed. I grabbed my laptop and sat with them in bed enjoying their company and surfing pinterest!
My husband makes dark and dreary comfy just by being there.

Every day I get to snuggle up with my baby boy while he nurses. Nothing could be more special & cozy than that!!

i recently had a baby boy, already 5 months old. he’s a handful, a loving, happy, sometimes crazy kid with loads of personality. but the best times are when he wraps his chubby little arms tightly around my neck, he gets perfectly still, snuggles his head in and quietly coos in my ear. a special secret between my baby boy and me.
I went back to a dance class today after being away for 8 weeks. My cozy moment was sitting in a circle with other ladies, catching up, and telling new students why this class is so important in our lives. A very in the present, “ah, I belong here” moment!
My husband and I, and our 9 mo. old baby just moved to Seattle. It is rainy here!! It can be very depressing! I am learning to love it, we cuddle up and read books with my babes and take time to enjoy the rain instead of dread the rain. What a beautiful place! What a beautiful world. You can get cozy no matter where you live.. rainy is my new favorite cozy!
I recently spent a year in London for work away from my long term BF. The minute I saw him in the airport on his last trip out to see me, knowing we were going home {together} and the long distance was at an end *WE DID IT* was the most joyful feeling of the year!
One cozy moment that I recently had was walking around a nursery garden in Berkeley with closest friends. It was warm and sunny and the flowers were out. Magical.

Seriously amazing Giveaway. I am obsessed with H & W. What makes my home cozy is the smell of something bubbling on the stove (I love to cook – especially slow cooking in the cooler months) and the sound of our son’s delighted shrieks as he crawls around our house looking for mischief. Of course, there’s our art and throw pillows and layers of blankets and souvenirs collected from travels, but it’s the smell and the sound that make our home ULTIMATELY cozy!
Sneaky fits of isolation can be a regular hazard of living in New York, even for sunshine-and-puppy-dogs people like me. I’d fallen into the trap recently. Then yesterday after spending a crisp fall day seeing the city through the eyes of my visiting parents, I fell in love all over again. I spent the half-hour subway ride home just observing all my beautiful crazy fellow citizens and thanking my lucky stars for getting to live in such a gorgeously complicated mess of a town.
