Ever since moving to LA, I've heard a million and one people tell me that I have to go to Scoops. A year and a half later, I finally made it to the legendary shop. It was much more low-key and less fancy than I had expected, but the custom flavors really did live up to all the hype. The flavors change every day, except for their signature Brown Bread flavor which tastes like a not-too-sweet French Toast topped with crispy crumbles. I also sampled the Salty Caramel, Yuzu, Poppy Almond, and Brown Rice Green Tea before settling on a combo of Brown Bread + Brown Rice Green Tea.

The Brown Rice Green Tea was like a frozen version of the brown rice tea you often get in Korean or Japanese restaurants with a meal. Punctuated by the richness of green tea, it was one of the best new ice cream flavors I've had this year. The only downside to their ever-changing flavors is that no two days are alike. So, don't go falling in love with one {oops, too late!} because you never know when your ice cream sweetheart will be back in your life again… — Joy

  1. How great! Luckily, living in the Midwest means ice cream is everywhere! The House of Flavors in Michigan has an enormous amount of flavors, as does Olson’s Ice Cream in WI. Olson’s makes on site so it’s fresh and delicious! The Brown Bread sounds so intriguing! yum…

  2. This is not really related to your post but your skin looks so radiant in these photos! Would you do a post on your skin care products?

  3. Love it! I can’t wait to give it a try. Love your pictures too. It’s neat seeing you there in the pictures instead of just the food alone =)

  5. I’ve always wanted to go there. The one time I drove by they were closed! The little street is such a hidden spot. Love the flavor choices, they sounds great.
