Oh, California…how I love you and your magical fruit! The other day I found these candy stripe figs at our local grocery store and had to try them. In season for only three weeks a year, this variety of fig has flesh that looks like raspberry jam with a slightly tart and more juicy flavor than regular figs. i have been looking EVERYWHERE for yummy figs here in NC. i mean everywhere. with me being 7 months pregnant, talking my husband into stopping at every fruit stand in town was pretty easy. but i still came up empty handed. its official, i have fig envy. these look wonderful!

My favorite! I would pick them off my aunt’s tree in the south of France. California has the best produce.
We are harvesting our second batch of figs here in VA. I adore them!
I like eating the turkey fig very much,and these look bigger that usual.
