As a kid, I loved Roald Dahl books. They were always whimsical, yet smart, with lessons to be learned from each. And I love that those lessons are ones that we, as adults, can also live by—especially in our busy day-to-day lives when we can sometimes get a little stuck in our routines or our ways of thinking. So, I thought it would be fun to turn a few of my favorite Roald Dahl quotes into paper placemats to use at the dinner table this holiday season as a conversation starter…or just a little daily reminder.
You can even hang them up as prints!
They're super easy to make. Here's how…
Simply download the artwork I've created by clicking right here (or on the bottom image, below). Print on a thicker paper stock, like HP Cover Paper, so that the print has some heft to it, whether you're using it at the table or for hanging it up on the wall.
Enjoy!

This is brilliant – love, love, love! Great for a kids birthday party, too!
SUCH a great idea! love the quotes.
where did you get those print hangers? so pretty
I love these, Joy! That first quote always reminds me of my mom — when we were little she would tell us that if we ate our vegetables at dinner, sparkles would show up on our faces. Now we tell my niece that and you should see her eat those green beans. 😉
love these, thank you Joy!
What a great idea!!!

I really love these. Roald Dahl was such a favorite of mine when I was growing up. Still have such a soft spot for Matilda and The Witches.
I made a little painting with the “glittering eyes” quote for my daughter’s room during my pregnancy. It’s one of my favorite pieces in her room. Thanks for sharing these printables and additional quotes – I LOVE them.
I love the fading colors this is a simple, clean and fun idea!
What a great idea! These are so cute. I fee like it would be extra careful not to make a mess when eating so they would stay so pretty.
Hi Christi!
Theyre vintage pant hangers from Ebay!

This is sooo gorgeous! 🙂 I like Roald Dahl’s books very very much (your quote is from “The Twits”, right?) and now that I moved to Sweden I even bought a Swedish version of one of his novels as a birthday gift. 🙂 Love your idea, thank you for sharing and big hugs from the snowy North!

What a wonderful idea for a conversation starter. I am hosting Christmas dinner this year for my little side of the family and am going to use this idea to get the conversations rolling!
Is it just me? I am having trouble with the dowload. These are adorbs. thanks!
Thank you for such an adorable project. I printed a few of them and used them to decorate my office…love it!
A favorite of mine too and just used one of the quotes for my husband’s bday today -thank you!!
Oh and LOVE your blog banner – gorgeous.
These are lovely!
What a great idea! I love your color choices. I too was a fan of Roald Dahl, although some of his darker books scared me (The Witches, James and the Giant Peach). On a different but similar note, did you know that the British Royal Mail released a collection of Roald Dahl stamps earlier this year? (You can see them here: http://www.royalmail.com/roald-dahl)
Hi Barb,
What are you seeing when you click? The file is a zip file which should automatically download when you click the link and then it will unzip into a folder that has all 4 PDFs. Let me know!
