In the last few weeks, Ruby's started to really understand what it means to hold hands. She knows she needs to hold our hands when we're outside and walking near a busy street. And now, she's gotten so comfortable with it, she'll even hold hands with her best friend, Leah, and The Man with the Yellow Hat that she met at a kid's literacy event last weekend!

Have a great weekend friends! Hope it's filled with lots of hand-holding with those you love…

  1. Such an adorable baby and mama, I guess I have new blog crush! Loving your hot pink coat, where did you get it, if I may ask?

  2. These adorable photos of Ruby PLUS Melanie’s adorable photos of Beck (on You Are My Fave) are just about killing me with sweetness.

  3. So sweet! And it’s awesome to see that she has such a connection with another child at such a young age. My daughter has about a year on Ruby, and she only wants to hold Mama’s hand. Ruby is such a little doll baby, cuteness overload!

  4. So precious! Also, thank you for posting about Milk & Bookies. I had never heard of it, and now I’m very interested!

  5. I remember a friend coming into town to visit me and she couldn’t figure out why Los Angeles seemed so sad to her. Then she figured it out…according to her it’s because she never saw people holding hands in LA and that stuck with me for a long time. There’s something endearingly precious about that one act. You’re teaching the little one well, Joy ♥

  6. I love how much more personal you’ve made this blog in the past year or so(?). I was always a casual reader and enjoyed your aesthetic, but I think what really draws me to this medium is seeing the personal side of the author, which makes blogging so different from a magazine or website. Obviously, every blog is different and some are strictly professional, but these kind of posts keep me coming back.
Sorry for the long-winded comment, what I’m really trying to say is your daughter is adorable!

  7. Thank you Judy! That means a lot. Im sometimes worried people dont want to see that side, but I really have to just go with my gut and share the things that are most important to me. Of course, the main one being my family 😉

  8. So sweet! I can remember when I was little, I loved holding hands. Especially when you hold one of each your parent’s hands and they pick you up and swing you. Damn, that was fun. 😀

  9. Joy, I always love to see Ruby’s pics..she is adorable..and I cannot stand her smiles!!…and those shoes!!
I’m itching to order the schier shoes for my girl…are they soft? do they stay on?
And your gold shoes…so pretty! You make me want a pair too… Are they comfy, joy? please be honest 🙂
    TIA!

  10. Hi Tia!
Thank you! I find the vellies to be super comfy.
For Ruby, her pair is still a little big in her so they do fall off if shes climbing around, but I think it will be better when she actually fits them!
The shoes are def. on the pricier side, but amazing quality – which to me justifies spending a bit more 😉

  11. I love Ruby’s striped top & pink pants and am laughing because I wore pretty much the same exact thing the other day. Great that my sense of style matches up with the fanciest toddler I know.

  12. Oh so very sweet! I love the last photo 🙂 ” Ruby’s started to really understand what it means to hold hands” heart – melted.

  13. love that you’re wearing brother vellies! those shoes are awesome, and supporting african designers in any way is super cool too. xo

  14. Oh my goodness SO darling. I love little people holding hands. Cutest thing ever. My (now three year old) son has a little BFF girlfriend and they have been cute little hand holders for a year or two. I have about a million cute pictures, I can not stop taking them 🙂

  15. Hi Joy,
I am dying to order a pair of Schier shoes for myself but I am curious if they run big, small? I’ve looked online and can’t find an answer so I figured I’d ask you since A. You wear them, and B. you ‘re the reason I know they exist::) Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!! I love your blog, btw.
PS: your baby girl is too cute for words!:)
