a space to create…

We've been working in the new studio for the past couple months now, and I have to say…it's been so nice having a separate space to work from. It's taken me eight years of having my own business to feel mentally and financially ready to invest in an outside work space, and I'm so glad I did. I thought I'd miss not getting to work in my PJ's, but I find myself more focused when I don't have to worry about the dirty dishes in the sink or get distracted by the incredibly cute sound of Ruby laughing in the next room. To have the literal space to create has been amazing…

While we're saving the full reveal to show you guys when it's totally done. Here are some tiny peeks for you…

P.S. Thank you so much for your kind words yesterday about our dear Bruce…it meant so much 😉

  1. congrats on the very big big step! i understand you because i work at home and it´s a proyect i have in my to do´s list 😉 beautiful space, i can´t wait until you show it completely!

  2. Can’t wait to see it!
I love the idea of having a studio to work in. I have been working from home for a couple of years, and I’ve found that it’s necessary to set aside a space (besides the couch!) and to get up, get dressed, have coffee, and ‘go’ to that space to work. I can’t believe how much of a difference it makes, psychologically.
That being said, this morning I’m ‘working’ in my nightie, lying on the couch with the TV on the background.
THAT is why I need a studio!

  3. Looks really nice.
I love the colors, if i could only work full time in my studio doing what i love would be a dream come true for me.
    Congrats 🙂

  4. I can only imagine how liberating it must feel! There are so many things that I love about working at home, but to be able to go somewhere to work, your own space, is also such a luxury. Can’t wait to see the finished office!

    I love the exposed brick.
My husband & i are currently redoing our apartment. it is a fun process, but def. a journey!

  6. Looks amazing already! Can’t wait to see the rest! (Sorry to go off-topic, but do you mind sharing the sources for the ikat shoes and the blue shoes featured in this post? Thanks!).

  7. love the steven alan pants. would you mind telling me what size you bought…i think we are similar in size and shape. thanks a bunch.

  8. We have been tossing this idea around and just aren’t quite ready to commit just yet. Can’t wait to see the reveal of your space! And congrats on the move.

  9. Congratulations on the next part of your ‘journey’ Joy! Just curious about the table lamps. Where are they from?

  10. I know it will be years before I’ll be ready as well, but love that you made it happen! Working from home, while convenient in some ways, is really difficult for me. Keeping focused when you know you have mounds of laundry upstairs is not easy… Beautiful space!
