Pine & Crane is my newest go-to spot. I've been there four times in the last ten days. It's a casual, quick, and super tasty Taiwanese-Chinese restaurant in Silver Lake. I almost don't want to tell you about it in fear that it will get too busy, but you guys know I want you to eat well, too 😉

Most of the produce is sourced from the owner's family farm, so everything is super fresh and local. Some of my favorites include the spicy shrimp wontons, the trumpet mushrooms, and the scallion pancake. Oh, they also have boba milk tea which is a rare find in Silver Lake!

And by the way, it's super kid-friendly. I've gone with Ruby every time I've been there and our crew of friends that consists of both toddlers and tiny babies. Pine and Crane just feels like a spot you can just show up to and get an authentic and delicious Chinese meal.

  1. Do you know the source for those great pendant lamps! They are exactly what I’ve been looking for.
    Thank you!

  2. Hi Joy,
First, Ruby is precious. I was wondering whether you’d ever grappled with making her image so public. I’ve been wanting to include some images of my kids of my blog but I feel uncomfortable having their pictures “out there.”
Also, do you ever hesitate about being so open about the places you take her on a regular basis? I guess this is my over-protective, overly paranoid mommy side coming out!

  3. Hi Katerina,
Thanks for your note and for your question. I think its totally a personal choice how much you share. Some bloggers choose to keep their family and personal life totally private and some share lots of moments from their everyday life. I know that I connect with blogs more when I feel like I get to see some of their real life. For me, I feel comfortable sharing it in moderation. My husband and I have agreed to certain things we will and we will not share, and it comes down to whats comfortable for our family. For example, I would never share where Ruby goes to school or anything having to do with our childcare as thats private to me. But I am okay sharing parts of our life and things we do that I think other people would enjoy themselves.
    Best!
    Joy
