if i had a boy…

Baby Boy Clothes

Baby Boy Clothes

Before we found out if we were having a boy or a girl, I had a lot of readers mention they were hoping I'd have to a boy so that I'd post more ideas about clothing and decor for boys. Unfortunately for the mothers of boys reading, I won't get to live out that for you in real life, but I thought it would be fun to share some of the things I'd use if I were having a baby boy 😉

Clothing: Zara denim sneakers, Polarn O. Pyret stripe tank, Whistle & Flute cloud tank, Noe and Zoe star onesie, Splendid striped set, Target gingham romper, Little Hip Squeaks onesie, and Wolfchilde mechanics suit.

Baby Boy Decor

I'm not much into the pink for girls and blue for boys thing so some of the pieces I'd buy for a boy are still things I'd get for a girl, too. But it's more about playing up a fun neutral palette with pops of pattern and some subtle colors.

Decor: Oh Joy for Nod striped lamp, Naked Lunge house pillow, Roxy Marj bear blanket, Land of Nod car print, Little Auggie striped sheets, Jonathan Adler lion pillow.

Oh, and if you guys haven't seen this Instagram account, this cutie must be one of the best dressed little boys I've ever seen…!

  1. This is too cute. Those mothers are right! There just aren’t as many options out there for boys. I love the mini ralph lauren baby clothes that they sell for boys. Cute and manly in a way but also still comfortable for baby.

  2. Thanks, Joy, for posting this! You read my mind as I wanted to see more “Oh Joy” styles for boys. My sweet boy, Camden, is just three months and I am on the lookout for cute clothes that doesn’t scream “boy” so stereotypically. I will soon run out of clothes for him as I am using still the gifts from our shower. I will def consider all of these for when he turns one. I for sure need that target romper!! Camdie would look divine in it. I wonder why there is not enough cute things for boys. There are so many fun things to create, but there just isn’t much out there. Congrats on baby #2!

  3. Thanks for sharing! I needed some ideas. My first is a girl (same age as Ruby) and my second is arriving in August (a boy). It’s hard to go from shopping for cute girl clothes to ones for boys… Enjoy your pregnancy with #2!

  4. I love that you are having a girl. It seems like all the blogs I follow are having girls. I’m seriously hoping (and praying) that I will have a boy when it’s time 🙂 I love these ideas and I love seeing all the different ideas out there. There are so many for both genders!

  5. Thank you for posting this! I’m always looking for new, fun ideas for my 2 boys. It helps to find edited buys for boys. There’s a lot of terrible stuff out there so it’s refreshing to find pieces that are so fun and different.

  6. Thank you so much for this! I have a little girl (same age as Ruby) and just found out today that we are expecting a boy!! I read this post before we found out and now I can get all excited about boy things 😉
    All the best,

  7. Honestly all of these things would be cute for girls, too. Growing a little tired of the “this is for girls” and “this is for boys” narrative.

  8. I just had my first (its a boy!) and love these picks! I’m a big fan of minimal and b/w too so thank you for introducing me to some of these brands. Looks like its time to shop for the little man! 🙂 Really enjoy your blog Joy – thank you!

  9. Top picks! The choice for boys these day is endless, so much more variety and some really cool brands. Love that lamp for any room. Bec 🙂
