If you're looking for a last-minute, super easy DIY project to make for your guests arriving to Thanksgiving tomorrow, here are some colorful coasters we recently made for the studio. Inspired by colorful clay necklaces, they're a beverage-friendly version that can be made in no time at all.
You'll need:
-polymer clay (FIMO or Sculptey)
-rolling pin
-circle cookie cutter (we used a circle cookie cutter 3.5" in diameter)
-optional: glitter
Here's how:
1. Preheat your oven to 265 degrees. Then, use a rolling pin to flatten out the clay to your desired thickness.
2. Use the cookie cutter to cut out your circle. Then create a pattern by adding other colored clay on top and using the rolling pin to flatten the clay.
3. Place your coasters on a baking sheet and bake at 265 for 30 mins (or based on the specific clay's directions).
And there you have some simple and fun coasters to hold drinks and welcome guests on Turkey Day or any other day!

Love this! Did you push the glitter down when you put them on?
Very cool! Typo in Sculpey on the Amazon link!
Hi Joy – so the designs on these coasters are also made of clay and not paint? And the glitter went on before baking? These are so awesome, I am going to try making them this weekend for gifts. I might also paint and seal. Thanks!
I LOVE this!! One of the few DIY’s out there that actually look worth doin 🙂

This is a DIY I can get behind! From a non-crafty person who envies creative, artistic people, this is so simple. I am definitely doing this with my nieces. So cute, so fun. Thank you!
What a cute idea! These would also make adorable xmas gifts for friends and family. Thank you for the inspiration!
These are so cute! I love the mix of fabulous colors!
Hi Alyssa,
Yes! Just press it in before baking 😉

I just bought some clay to do this weekend! Question for you – will I need to use one full color for the circle part of the coaster? Thanks!
Me too! Good question! I just rolled out one block and there’s no way it will make one coaster. I’m thinking I might need two blocks?
Hi Hollis!
We used just one block per coaster. Maybe yours is bigger in size?
Joy
Hi Justine,
Yes, we used one package per coaster base!
Best,
Joy
