As a working mom of two, I feel like I have less and less time to get stuff done every day. I've talked before about using delivery services, apps, and other tools help make your life a little easier. Grocery delivery is one of those modern day conveniences that has made my life SO much easier. There are so many times when I don't have time to load up the kids and make a big trip to the grocery store…but I still need food to stock my fridge. I've used Instacart for over a year now and have been a regular customer because I can get my usual favorites from my local grocery stores (like Whole Foods or Gelson's), but it shows up at my door within 1-2 hours and allows me to do something I'd rather be doing in that time…like spend time with my kids!
Instacart is currently available in 18 U.S. cities. To celebrate its launch in Orange County, we've partnered with them to give away a $350 credit and a full year of Instacart Express (free deliveries!) to one lucky reader (a $500 value).
To enter, please visit (and like!) this Instacart post on Instagram! Then, leave a comment here telling me what you would do with the free time you'd save using Instacart. Entries close this Saturday, April 2nd at 8am PST and one winner will be chosen at random.*
UPDATE: Congrats to Melanie L. from Austin, TX for being our winner this time!

Oh yeah, Instacart is one of my favorite services. It’s so convenient and ever since I’ve had my daughter it’s been a life savior. It saves so much time and effort. I would use that extra time with my newborn.it def. helps to have groceries delivered to your door and their shoppers do an excellent job at getting what you want. Thanks for this giveaway!!
I’m also a working mom, so I would use this time to hang out with my baby girl!
I would sit out in my sunroom, soak up the spring warmth with the record player in the background and knit with a moisturizing mask on! What a treat!
I’d love a instacart credit. I’d get to spend more time with the kids. @jennettef
i would probably use the time to play with my daughter and finally finish decorating her new big girl room! @shiru101
I am not a member of Instagram but I LOVE Instacart!
I love this idea! I’d use the extra time working on my Brazilian portuguese to speak fluently with my sister in law and niece, who’s due in June!
Oh my goodness I need this in my life. I am currently a doctor in training and my mom sent me this link. She knows I have very little time to get groceries so this would be an amazing service to try out. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d actually get some laundry done (finally!)!
Oh gosh, I’d use it to do anything BUT grocery shopping with a 3yo and a 6 week old! They are sweet wonderful girls but there’s not enough room in a cart for both of them plus a week of groceries, and in my Copious Spare Time (ha!) I’d prefer to…I don’t know, shower? 🙂
i am terrible at grocery shopping! I end up going to a lot of stores and getting more or less than I wanted to. this would help save a lot of time and I could actually work on some of my art!
I would use the time to keep chasing around my three babies under the age of two! We have a sweet, energetic toddler, we just had identical twin girls, and we are about to move into our first house…so Instacart would be a giant time/hassle/life-saver!
I would enjoy time with my fiance and plan our wedding!
I’m also a mom of two but as I’m not currently working outside my house I’d use the time to continue working on the book I’m writing!
Instacart has saved me countless sore shoulders and blisters – I’m several blocks and 4 flights up from a supermarket! I am training for a charity half marathon and work has been CRAZY, I’d use the extra time to get some training in.
I’d spend more time playing with my dog.
Oh my goodness… we’ve got a 1 year old who is teething, and so much of her time is spent in sadness these days when we have time to play with her, and go figure, she’s always in a good mood right when I have to prepare meals… which really has me feeling down (especially since I *have* to work, and so I already miss so much of her day!)

More time to spend with my 3 year old girls!
I am also a working mom and would use the extra time with my sweet baby. 🙂
I would spend more time with my baby girl too!
I would love to use that time for a good run or workout. Definitely time to look into Instacart, thanks!
Since this would be more than one grocery store trip, I’ll say I’d partake in my two favorite things with my children: A hike in Rock Creek Park, and a giant art project spread across our dining room table. Fingers crossed!
Whole foods is about 1.5miles away from our new apartment. We walk there (no car, no direct public transportation) so it usually takes us a a couple of hours. By the time we get back, we’re so tired from carrying all the groceries we can’t manage to do anything else. With the free time, I’d love to explore our new neighborhood!

When are you going to blog about the White House Easter Egg Hunt?!?!?! I’m DYING for details over here 🙂
I would use the time to hang out with my 2 kids. We can go to griffith park or the zoo. They would love it.
I would use my precious extra time to meditate and finally get around to posting the next article on my food politics blog!
Perfect because I live in OC! If I won this, I would spend the time studying for the bar. A break on the grocery bill plus delivery would be so helpful.
I’d spend my time enjoying my family. My husband goes grocery shopping on Sunday nights after the kids go to sleep. It would be such a treat to have that time together, just the two of us!
Oh what wouldn’t I do?! I have a newborn so time is not something I have an abundance of these days! Thank you for the chance!
I would take a nap. For sure.
Now that we’re heading into Spring here in the Midwest, I’d spend more time at the park with my toddler!

like you–i would spend it with my two little girls.
With my free time from not driving through crazy DC/Maryland streets, I would work out, catch up on my TV shows, cuddle with our kitties, and facetime my sister who’s in LA. Drivers here are horrible, and I’d much rather sit through LA traffic (where people have a sense of urgency), than drive anywhere here where everyone cruises 10 miles below the speed limit. Long story short, Instacart would make my husband’s and my life a million times easier!
I would spend more time relaxing and catching up on my list of shows to watch on Netflix. <3

I know I’m not a working mom but I would love to have this service. I’m a 20-something in LA just starting out in my career and very much hustling to get ahead. I work in the theme park industry which is completely project based and its a small company so I’m often working long hours to prove myself (and hit the deadlines!) With LA traffic and my freelance gigs there’s not much time to cook let alone grocery shop. My boyfriend and I are really trying to eat healthier but can struggle to find time when we both are hustling. Also if i sent him to the store he’d come back with cheeze-its and rice-a-roni! Been looking at instacart recently and would love this opportunity to give it a try!

I love to throw on “Gilmore Girls” or “The West Wing” and do chores while waiting for Instacart! I get to feel doubly productive and also relaxed.

I am a couple of weeks away from the due date of my second child. I know with an infant and a toddler any spare time I can get will be very helpful!!
Is it too sad if I said sleep? Seems like i’m always behind these days. I liked and commented under “imnessp”.
I would call my grandmother! She’s a chatter and looks forward to my calls every week, but I usually can’t call for as long as I’d like on account of errands. Then I feel guilty when I have to go. If someone picked up my groceries (I don’t even get that much) I could spend a little more time visiting. 🙂

I think I would take time for me- excercise, get outside, read or get artsy. Then I will be more present with my kids and family.
Yay! Have always wanted to try it. I’d spend it cleaning…which always seems to fall to the wayside. 😛
It would be great to spend more time with my 14 month old… Hopefully at a park!!
Awesome giveaway! I’d take more walks with my baby boy!
We just had a baby, so we would use Instacart for all the meals and groceries I can’t buy because I’m not able to leave the house! Also, trying to learn all new recipes for my culture would be easier knowing if I forgot an ingredient, instacart is to the rescue!
Spend more time with my kids, doing things they want, instead of grocery shopping!
So happy to hear they are coming to Orange County!! I just moved back from NYC and instacart was definitely one of my favorite things!!
Take more walks by the beach!
Love instacart! I’d get some fresh air and take a nice hike!
I would spend the extra free time with my little baby.
I love Instacart and have come to rely on it for our family of four. I would love to spend the extra time (and all the proceeds for any fortuitous winnings) on helping our next door neighbor, an elderly vet, who needs some extra support in doing day to day activities including getting groceries.
I’d spend the extra time with my 3 little ones playing dress up or doing art, as well as trying to tidy up our always messy home!
I’d spend an extra hour outside after work (thanks daylight savings!)
Love Instacart , they were so helpful when I became a first time mom and it was hectic to go shopping with a newborn. I wish I can use them often but usually opt out because I can’t afford the delivery fees. Hopefully I can win this prize! If I won , I’d take my active toddler to the park or read a fun book with my free time!
I can use the time to enjoy the outdoors with my 2 littles!
Well, I work full-time, raise three children, and attend graduate school…life is full! So, if I don’t have to be in the grocery store, that is a win!!
I’ll snuggle with my kids and take them out for bike rides to the park!
I would spend the time working on my new business – every minute counts with 2 little kids at home!
I’d spend more time with my sweet daughter (who isn’t a huge fan of grocery shopping!).
I live in Boston, so this would be a perfect way to save time!
Honestly, reading. It’s all I do anymore. I have so much tv to catch up on, because all I want to do is read.
Totally hooked on instacart in DC! I use the time I save to enjoy time outside with my son!
I would spend more time outside with my 2 yo and puppy!
I would actually take the time to cook something for and with my little family. My toddler loves to be up in the step stool with us, getting in on the cooking and baking action.
I love Instacart! I would use that extra time to help me finish up my thesis project to graduate from college with a degree in graphic design 🙂
I’d take my pup on an extra, extra long walk!
I would spend more time in the garden with my plant babies!
I would love to try instacart so I can have a moment to myself. Having a career in a big city and being a wife leaves me not a whole lot of extra time. Maybe I’d take a bubble bath!
i would spend more quality time with friends and family!
I would use the time to go to the gym, spend time with my family, and spend time studying for tests required for my professional licensure.
What a great giveaway! I would spend the extra time catching up on House of Cards with my husband, we haven’t started the new season yet! And maybe spend some extra time on meal prep for the week, so that I’m not quite so rushed when I get home from work.
On a recliner with popcorn watching movie ..
I <3 instacart! I think it's such a time saver! With my new-found time, I would be able to garden, read, spend more QT time with my man... go running, make art... The list continues! Thank you for a great giveaway!

I’d spend time writing! Blogging about my design work and newfound interest in a capsule wardrobe
I have an hour long commute. I dread having to stop for necessities like milk for morning’s breakfast when I’d rather get to my kiddos sooner. Instacart is like the fairy godmother!
We just purchased a home 7 months ago. We’re slowly working on the spaces to make it ours, and some extra free time would help us get there a little faster!
I especially love Instacart because I can order things specifically for a recipe I want to try — I always forget or get the same stuff when I rush in on my way home from work or something. I would use the extra time to catch up on thank you notes and connect with friends far away on the phone.
This would be a dream – my partner and I just opened a business and haven’t figured out how to have fresh fruits and veggies in the house because there just aren’t enough hours in the day!
I’d use all the extra time outside with my girls to teach my five year old how to ride a bike and my two year old to scoot.
clean the house, more activities with the kids, more time at the zoo/park… so many things!
I first learned of Instacart from your Seattle post, and quickly fell in love with it—thanks Joy! I would use the extra time to pause, sit down and write a card to a best friend.
I adore Instacart. The extra time I would gain would be spent doing the other chores I tend to put off and hopefully hitting the gym. 🙂
Spend more time with the baby and doggy!! With my commute, i don’t get home until 6:15. Baby goes to bed at 7:30. An hour and 15 without worrying about groceries would be awesome!
I would spend the time outside exercising with my dog and husband
I am a homeschooling mom, so I would use the time I would spend dragging my kids around the store to do something fun with them instead. And less stressful for me!
I would go to the spa!
I’d take the extra time to go for a cappuccino date with the hubby!
This would be awesome! I would use the extra time to get some stuff done around the house…much better than grocery shopping 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win!
Instacart is my favorite when I don’t get a chance to make it to the grocery store or need a few items for dinner. It saves me so much time and the convenience of being able to get fresh groceries even if the three year old is mid tantrum. I’m also able to spend all that extra time either cleaning up after my little one or taking a taking a few minutes to organize the rest of my day.
Take a bubble bath!
Have yet to try Instacart, but I’m now psyched to do it. I just had my first baby and can barely take a shower let alone shop for groceries. So I would spend my extra time taking care of me so I can better take care of the little one.
I’d spend the time taking care of my newborn and getting some rest instead!!
I’d use the extra time to get more crafty with decorating around the house.

with the free time, I would probably relax a little bit, hang out with my daughters a little longer at the park… oh, the possibilities! 🙂
Have a cup of tea and read a book.
I’d spend time doing my other household errands… Like that huge pile of laundry!
I would use my extra time from by busy schedule to make it to the gym!! What a generous giveaway! (:
I love this idea! I’d use the time to make some great.
Thanks for this giveaway!!
I would love to win this instacart giveaway. As a full time working mom in a career, it’s difficult to juggle it all. I use my lunch break at work to shop for groceries and don’t have any time in my day to work out and get in shape. Since I have had a kid, I’ve gained a lot of weight because I don’t have enough time to excercise. There’s simply not enough time in the day to make time for my own health and well being. Using instacart will save me time that I can be using to get back into shape and most importantly improve my health.
I’m moving to NYC and am quite eager to get to know the city so in my spare time, I would explore!
Instacart looks great! I’d use some extra time to spend a little extra time at the gym or going for a jog. I love to read a magazine in the sauna as a treat! Thanks for the chance, Joy.
I recently started adapting a healthier lifestyle by eating better and working out as much as possible. Problem is, I also work long hours and manage my own blog on the side (rachelinflight.com). This doesn’t leave me with much time to run off to the gym for classes nor do I get to have ‘girls nights’ as much.
Winning this would definitely free up some time that I usually spend meal prepping or cooking dinner for my boyfriend and I. I also think it would allow me to host a girls night in and use my meals from Instacart to treat the girls to a nice dinner.
I love instacart! The time it saves allows me to cook a meal for my kids or get in an extra hour of work.
I’d use it to take the family on a hike on Saturday morning. 🙂
I would actually cook if I could save time with grocery delivery!
Since I work full time and am in school full time, I would use all the free time to study!… and do laundry.
I love love love saving time…especially grocery time! I would definitely use the extra time to clean my apartment more. 🙂
I started using Instacart when I was recovering from major surgery and couldn’t drive or lift things. I’ve continued with it because I don’t have to give up study time to go to the grocery store! I have more time to cook healthy meals. I’ve always meal planned and made detailed grocery lists so it’s a perfect service for me. I recommend it to everyone.
I would spend my time finishing my homework in between my commuting between the city and campus for my college courses and division 1 soccer practices
I would do laundry instead of grocery shopping hahaa
Instacart is great! Instead of grocery shopping, I’d love to use my time on Saturday mornings to get a meal for the week knocked out and take my two daughters on a mini “adventure” to the zoo or park.
I’d use the extra time to walk to the park and enjoy Spring!
I would take my puppy to the dog park and catch up on some reading!
Would love to win this and use the time to play more with my daughter! As a working mom its hard to balance that time and prepare a nice home cooked meal. 🙂
I would get some much needed exercise!
With my free time… I’d eat!
i’d spend my extra time cooking an actual meal instead ordering from seamless!
I have a 7-week-old newborn and a 3-year-old toddler so using Instacart would help me save so much time. Instead of being stressed out driving with my crying newborn to the grocery store and rushing before I have to nurse her again, Instacart would allow me to choose exactly what I need to cook for my family at the comfort of my home.
I’d probably do more proper meal prep if I saved time by not grocery shopping myself!
I Am working and preparing for a baby. So time (and energy) is always limited. I would use the time to start my nursery!
Instacart is such a great service – Thanks for hosting the giveaway! If I won, I would use my extra time to actually meal plan so my groceries weren’t just a random mess of things that looked good when I walked through the grocery store. I love to feed my family well, and this would be a huge help!
Ideally, I would use the time to catch up on someone writing and design projects in been neglecting. But, taking the time to watch a good movie at home is also something I would like to do more often.
