happy friday + voice lessons!

Oh Joy

Oh Joy

Ever since having my first baby almost five years ago, most of my "free time" has been spent doing things with and for the kids…or catching up on work while they are napping or sleeping. I haven't given myself that much time to do anything solely for myself for fun. As moms do, I prioritized everything else over myself and hence my workouts have been scarce, and I haven't learned any new skills in a long time.

Finally, this summer, I made myself a priority again. After my kids go to bed, I've been carving out at least one night a week to go play tennis (I know it's only once a week, but that's better than before!)…AND, last night I started taking VOICE LESSONS! I know, so random!

I love singing with and to my kids…but I'm pretty tone deaf. Just like anything else that you want to get better at, you take a lesson, learn how to improve, and practice. So, here I am, starting voice lessons, and we'll see how it goes. I probably won't quit my job (just yet) to become a pop star, but who knows… 😉

Oh, and happy weekend!

  1. Congrats ! You know you’ll feel an even better mom for taking time for you. And showing your two girls that a mom is also a person with her own life is priceless in my opinion. xo

  2. As a mom to two girls the same age as yours, you are an inspiration! Solo activities are hard at this stage of life but necessary! Enjoy your lessons. 🙂

  3. So good! As a stay at home mom of two, I was definitely feeling like I needed more time for me. This summer, when my baby was only 7 weeks old I played volleyball every Monday night for 3 hrs. It was so good to have time where no one needed me and I got to do something I enjoyed, plus exercise! I’m gonna have to find something else to do now that it’s over.

  4. Please update us on the lessons. I’m not the best singer either, and am so curious how much I can be helped! 🙂

  5. LOVE THIS! I took a voice class in college because I’m also tone deaf and aspire to be able to sing one day! Maybe one day when the kids are older I’ll take up something fun like this too!
