Rainbow has been super on-trend this year in everything from fashion and home decor to hair and nails! But when does the rainbow trend look too young vs. age-appropriate? While I would gladly wearing a full-on rainbow outfit every day of the week, I also try to make sure I'm not one of those 30-somethings (actually…almost 40-somethings) who is dressed like a teenager. So, here are three outfits I put together that feel more grown-up while still rocking the whimsy that is rainbow…

1. Rainbow accessories. This is the bare bones of rainbow and the way to approach it if you want to just tap into the multi-colored craze. With these shoes and clutch, you're adding in fun without overwhelming the outfit with too much color.

2. Casual rainbow accents. This VERY fun rainbow cuffed bomber jacket could totally skew teen. However, if you mix it with more sophisticated, neutral pieces, it offsets an outfit that could get too serious otherwise. This look is all about contrast, but it works because the denim skirt bridges the gap between too casual and too formal.

3. Statement piece. Here's the piece that's pow wow in your face bold. It could be a rainbow-inspired skirt, pants, or a dress. The key to wearing a rainbow piece like this is making the rest of the outfit neutral and letting that key statement piece shine. Also, for the other pieces, textures like lace, leather or faux leather up the sophisticated more so than just wearing these pants with a simple t-shirt.
