For our final month of Oh Joy Color Adventures this year, we're going strong with a very universally popular color…blue! We're going blue on blue! This is the first time we've done multiple shades of one color for this series, and we had so much fun styling this monochromatic lounge… 

The main statement in this room is the color blocked blue wall in two shades of blue. We tend to stick to the darker color at the bottom to ground the room.

When mixing shades of one color, make sure you're hitting both light, medium, and dark shades to offer contrast. If you only stick with two shades of blue, it could feel too matchy-matchy. But a few shades (or more) adds depth and richness.

When there is a lot of one color, big areas of white (or a neutral) help to give the eye a break and balance it all out.
