One of my favorite ways to add whimsy to a dining room? Mix and match the chairs! The result looks chic, yet fun. Here are some examples…

4 Ways to Mix Chairs in a Dining Room! / Oh Joy!

1. Same style, different repeated colors. Here we focused on three different colors of the same chair to go with this simple white dining table. We went with mint and sage green, then added pink to add a little pop to the palette. We kept the rug neutral as well so the chairs would be the star.

2. Different chairs, same color palette. In this example, the two chairs used are completely different styles, but the blue in both ties them together. This is a great option if you already have two chairs you love and want this look without having to buy a whole brand new set.

3. Same chairs, one of each color. Similar to the first example, here are four of the same chair, yet this time there is only one of each color. This works well for a smaller table (like this four-person round table). When picking four different colors, we like the colors to all be around the same shade (all light, all medium, all dark etc). So that they work well together and look like a fun family.

4. Add in a metallic! Let's say you had a set of four chairs in one of the above combinations. If still want to use them in a new space or create a bigger seating area, a pair of metallic chairs adds another layer without adding a new focal color. In this case, we already had two sets of the same chairs in two different colors, and then we added the rose gold duo. Also, when arranging chairs with three or more colors, they look best when the matching pairs are placed more random and not side-by-side.
