We've had a baby boom at Oh Joy! recently, so we're very inspired by babies and kid's rooms! Today, we're showing you how to style a pretty pastel nursery! It's simple, colorful, and can grow with your child from newborn to toddler. When creating a space that you want to be playful and sophisticated enough to stand the test of time, here are a few tips to keep in mind…

Balance fun pops of color with neutrals. We painted the walls a pale pistachio that is fun but not so crazy that we would tire of it too soon. By painting the walls a pale color, we were able to bring in lots of colorful accents into the space without overwhelming it. We kept almost all of the furniture white to keep the space feeling crisp and clean.

Mix in whimsical pieces with classic ones. We played with a lot of fun, whimsical, pastel accents to bring the space to life. The smaller accents are super easy to switch out if needed as children grow. In turn, we kept the artwork simple and sophisticated since that's a more expensive investment. We chose pieces that fit into the overall color scheme of the room but are both abstract and sophisticated.

Add in sophisticated doses of pattern! These gold polkadot sheets are the perfect mix of playful and sophisticated! Polkadots can be super youthful, so we made sure they were a chic, metallic gold.

Statement pieces that can withstand wear and tear. The rug is a super fun piece that plays with a lot of colors and is WASHABLE which is so great in a kids' bedroom or playroom because spills and messes are inevitable. To add an extra dose of dimension and texture we layered the pink shag rug on top, which also makes an extra cozy spot for kids to play.
