feeling like floating into the new year…

Balloons

Balloons

Happy 2009! I hope you all had a great holiday and start to the new year. To start off 2009 at Oh Joy…here are a handful of my current favorite images. Balloons seem to be everywhere lately {they’re the new mustache!}, so here’s a little ode to things that are round, floaty, and cheerful!

{left to right, top to bottom: Joanna Goddard’s GORGEOUS engagement photos by Max Wanger, installation by pirajamaharaja, Dorthe Alstrup print, tissue paper puffs in Tim’s home in the Dec 08 issue of LivingEtc, yellow puff from Liana’s Big Sur wedding at Once Wed, heart balloon girl from Iefke de Roos look book via siagrafica, monsieur II print by blancucha, and balloons indoors by That Was My Foot.}

  3. Oh my goodness – just compiled a post of balloons as well, as had also noticed that they seemed to be everywhere lately! How fun. Beautiful post — so bright and cheerful. Happy New Year!

  4. I know I’ve been so into balloons lately….been incorporating them into patterns…Tim Walker has some pretty ones in his photos. You’re the best Joy. Happy New Year!

  5. I don’t usually like balloons because they remind me of poorly executed proms and weddings of the eighties. These photos prove that if things are used with taste they will look amazing.

  6. Dear oh Joy, I love your blog and as a reaction on your balloon photo compilation I would like to give you the URL of a Dutch artist. Her name is Connie Dekker and on her website you’ll find beautiful installations and embroideries. The particular link brings you to images of her “balloon” performance which was carried out on the top of a beautiful rock covered with olive trees near the village Carmignano, Tuscany. Also the embroideries of Connie, she spend 10 years on embroidering swans, are gorgeous. Thank you so much for your attention, Ron
