a new happy place in {silver lake}…

When moving to a new city, I love exploring new restaurants and shops fast and furious like a kid in a candy store. However, once a few of those new spots trigger that happy place in my belly, it's pretty easy to cozy up and become a regular. One of my most frequented favorite new spots is certainly Lamill in Silver Lake. Whether breakfast {amazing egg bowls}, lunch {love the burrata plate}, dinner, dessert {like the PB & chocolate sandwich above}, or a Hong Kong Milk Tea to go {my new favorite beverage}, I find Lamill to be a great cafe/restaurant in one. It's busy but not obnoxious, and I love the simple fresh food mixed with a few Asian influences {like the eel bowl above}. Did you see my permanent butt imprint in their crocodile-upholstered chairs? Don't worry, you will soon…

  1. Hey Joy.
I think my friend took me there once… is it kind of a swanky hip but modern coffee bar? I hope you’re enjoying your new home in LA!

  2. The Passionfruit Gelee is my favorite! 🙂 such a great combination of wonderful textures in that dessert.

  3. oh yay! lamill is the best! make sure to taste the 1) lavender infused lemonade and 2) the vanilla bean lattees. both are to die for! xo

  4. I love having you in LA. I now have a restaurant scout and chief food taster to do my scoping for me – I hate making the effort to go somewhere new, and then be disappointed by the food. Looking forward to trying Lamill now.

  5. Hi! I too recently moved to Los Feliz/Silver Lake from NYC (originally from Philly) and your blog is a daily read. I so know what you mean about ‘kid in candy store’ type exploring – Love that you’re in the hood and look forward to more fantastic recommendations (btw Lamill’s eggs with crab and their doughnut holes are pretty great).

  6. Seriously, I miss great places like the one you’re describing. Moving from NYC to DC has been rough on the food front…my tummy rumbles just thinking about it!

  7. I love egg bowls and have been making them frequently over this summer. My latest creation was polenta with chard and mushrooms, topped with an egg, s & p, then baked at 400 for 15 min.

  8. We love to stop in there on the way into town. Good food, great coffee, a little style – what’s not to like? I don’t know if you’re a coffee drinker, but their iced cafe cubano is absolutely atomic, by the way!

  9. Thank you for another great article. Where else could anyone get that kind of information in such a perfect way of presentation.

  10. Hi Erin!
So fun! Im not a coffee drinker but my husband thinks its the best coffee in LA too!
Glad you had a nice time while you were here! 😉
