Since I finally conceptualized my bedroom sketch last week, we've been making some progress! So I thought it would be fun to share a little update with you guys! Even though I'm a designer, I'm hardly a DIY-er, and prefer to leave certain things to an expert if it's something I don't know how to do really well myself. So, yesterday, the wallpaper lady I hired came to install my wallpaper and did her thing. She was awesome and in and out in just a few hours. I think it looks amazing and cannot wait to finish up the rest! Here's a little peek for you. Stay tuned for the full room soon which will be shot for the 3rd issue of Anthology Magazine coming out in April or May! — Joy

  1. You may not be a DIY-er, but your wallpaper is the best thing that’s ever happened to that room! Kudos to both of you. Can’t wait to see what you’ll do next!

  2. ooo joybird! i love it!! your wallpaper design looks fab. i want my bedroom to be the same now!! (if i only had a bedroom!!)

  3. Looks amazing. I can’t convince my husband to do wallpaper, but I’d really love to. Are you a renter? How do you get around that in your rental agreement?

  4. I’m the exac opposite of you, I’m a total DIYer equipped with a tablesaw and all, but not a designer. Although I do LOVE pretty things and pretty rooms.
The wallpaper is gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the final room.

  5. Hey Katie!
I just asked my landlord and he said it was fine as long as we return it to a painted wall when we move (that is unless the new tenants want to keep it up! )
    Hope youre well! 😉

  6. I’m with all of the comments above. I’m really looking forward to seeing the final result!
    * As for the actual application, I think I remember reading in a previous post (or was it a completely different blog by a totally different person?) that you were going to try adhering it temporarily to the wall using a grid made from painter’s tape – did you try this first, or just decide to go the traditional installation route?
I’m just curious, as I was debating trying the temporary method and was wondering if it would actually work!

  7. Hi Rebecca!
Yes, youre right. I was planning on doing that. I actually had some sample pieces applied to my wall like that for months and it seemed to hold and stay well but wasnt perfectly flat. My husband wasnt convinced it would hold up when we get hot summers…so we had it installed the regular way!
I think for a smaller wall, it would be worth trying!!

  8. Looks great. My home is full of bright colors but lately I have been wanting a more neutral and calming palette. The neutral metallics in your bedroom are calm while still being fun. Also, can’t wait until I get Anthology with your home featured in it! Thanks for the heads up.

  9. Hi, i love it all! the wallpaper is awesome.. i also am in love with your little black and wood dresser.. where did you find it? love your blog. 🙂

  10. love the wallpaper!
i’m also inspired by your carpet. 🙂 i prefer wood floors but our apt came with carpeted bedrooms, which is probably why these rooms remain ugly and undecorated. seeing pics of your place makes me realize that there’s still so much i can do!
