I love graphic designer, Carly Hall-Scott's aesthetic in her blog Simple.Better and asked her to blog about some of her newest favorite pieces… — Joy

With handmade crafts everywhere these days, I really love these cross-stitch items. They're a great twist on girly small town charm with bright colors and modern style. Plus, the necklaces were made by my talented friend Lily {watch out for her at the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco this December}!

  1. @ajohnson Before you make such bold accusations on my work, perhaps you should consider:
    – hearts are an extremely common shape
    – folk designs have been around since needlepoint began
    – using button covers is a common practice
    – I use vintage needlework books and my own sketches for each design.
    – if you look at my other pendants, there’s no similarities at all.
The work of PinPals is lovely, and yes we both make cross stitched jewelry, but mine are not a knock off of their work.
