happy friday + 3 months with ruby…

Ruby-3-months

Ruby-3-months

Happy Friday friends! Our little lady turned 3 months this week…and I couldn't be more enamoured. She's so much more aware this month…laughing, smiling a ton, and attempting to talk to us in her own little way. I find myself making up the dorkiest songs to sing to her, speaking in accents I never knew I could do, and watching videos of her on my computer when she's napping because I already miss her. It's crazy. You never know how being a mom will feel until you're there, and it's the most amazing thing…ever. Thanks for letting me share my sappy little bit with you today. Hope you guys have a great weekend! — Joy

  1. Congrats Joy!!! She is absolutely precious 🙂 I had my little guy the same week you had Ruby, so it’s neat to see how your little 3 month old is growing up the same as mine! Being a mommy IS the best thing 🙂
    Love her little outfit too.

  2. i watch videos of my daughter too while shes napping because I miss her! hahah It is crazy, and you’re right you don’t know what its like to be a Momma until you’re there!

  3. Ummm did you make that “YOU” picture? Or did you buy it? Because it is super cute and I would like one in my home ASAP!
    Happy Weekend-ing!

  4. First time commenter here (but I’ve been following your blog for a while). My daughter is just a month behind Ruby in age & I completely 100% agree w/ you about missing her during naps…though I’m just stoked that she naps these days at all, HA!
Ruby is ADORABLE. Such a beautiful little lady. Great job mama! Love the background details.
How is sleep training going? Been thinking about you gys b/c we’re sort of in the thick of that right now!

  5. Hey there!
Thanks and congrats on your babe too!
Sleep training is going okay. We have her day time naps down. Started her on a eat/play/sleep every 3 hour schedule at 2 months and by now her daytime is great and she totally falls into the routine and shes pretty good with self-soothing. Shes sleeping more at night than before but we havent started the real training at night yet bc we are waiting till shes a little bigger and can safely not eat at night. Its so tough because many people advise waiting till 4-5 months as when they can physically sleep through the night without food, but then you have some people who sleep trained from day one and by 11 weeks their babies are sleeping 12 hours straight! So many ways to go about it, so were learning what we think is best for us and Ruby.

  6. Love the middle pix. Love love love her perfect tiny little lips…I think she looks like Joy but with Bob’s facial expressions : )

  7. SHE IS PRECIOUS! These pictures are great 🙂 My little girl is two (and a couple months) it goes by so fast! I was feeling “sappy” – lets say momish – today too, you should check out my post titled “The Mom Factor”.

  8. Thanks!!! Can’t believe I won! So excited!
Happy 3 months to your little one! She shares a monthiversary with my Logan except he’s 4 months today 🙂

  9. Ruby is so adorable. I´m really touched by your words, they remind me of the first months with my baby-girl, she´s 14 months now. You´re so right: You never know how being a mom will feel until you’re there, and it’s the most amazing thing…ever…. And you know what? It even gets better every day. It´s crazy. Hope you get some sleep… Have a nice weekend! And happy birthday, Ruby!

  10. I always get a kick out of seeing snapshots of Ruby, anytime of day or night. She is beyond adorable and a thrill I can bet. Thanks for sharing baby Ruby with us all– it’s a great way to wrap up my work week! Thanks Joy, Suzette

  11. Ruby is so adorable! I’m a mother to a 5 month old girl, and I know what exactly you mean by doing all those crazy stuff to keep her entertained, and best reward is when she smiles 🙂

  12. She is soo cute! I’m 5 months pregnant and I can’t wait until I have my little one in my arms and get experience all this first hand! 🙂

  13. She is unbelievably adorable! And I love the flower on her top. =)
3 months is the best, all the smiles and interaction… finally! =)
And I so know what you are saying about missing them when they are sleeping. I about died when I sent my 9 month old off to grandma’s overnight. I had to hide a pic I had recently framed cause I thought I might cry from missing him. ; )

  14. Hi there! I wrote you several months back when we were both pregnant. Our little ones were born just weeks apart! Baby Beckett was born october 6th! I have been following your adventures in mommyhood and am right there with you. it is so fun to be experiencing the very same things i read on your blog. My heart is so full of love each time I look, or even think, of his precious face (toes, tush, you name it). I never knew I could feel so much love inside me. Its amazing, and exhausting, and exciting…all at the same time. i’ve been taking monthly photos of beckett as well. i’d love to share them if there is a way. looking forward to the many more fun milestones Ruby and Becks will cross.

  15. What? No way! We have the same name and the same babys name? Is your husbands name Bob??? Now THAT would make this even crazier!
Best to you and your Ruby!
    Joy

  16. Hey Jamie,
So nice to hear from you…glad to hear things are going well with Beckett (what a great name).
Its an amazing time and we are so lucky!
    Joy

  17. She is a darling! My little sugar lump is 12 weeks on Monday and I too am experiencing the fact that I can make a song to any tune on whim (…and I’m so not musical)…being a mom is the best!

  18. Isn’t being a mom the most amazing thing in the world? I have two daughters, 14 and 17 and I swear they were Ruby’s age yesterday. It is the fastest and most wonderful experience I have had. Cheers to you and Ruby!

  19. Congrats again Joy! She is getting so big!
I love the photos that you take of her. Are they with the phone so whenever she is doing cute things, you can capture it, or with an actual camera!
AND I LOVE the month thing that you do- such an awesome idea for you to track her, and it will be something awesome to show her someday.

  20. Thanks Sina!
The ones of her face tend to just be on my iPhone since thats usually at reach when shes doing something cute!
The monthly ones are on a better camera 😉

  21. Hi Joy!
Ruby is the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen! So beautiful!
Would you mind telling me where you got your wallpaper from? It’s just what I’ve been looking for!
    Best,
    Eilidh

  22. I love your blog, but truth be told it’s been a while since I have had a chance to take a peek, and I found myself skipping posts trying to find an update about Baby Ruby!… So thanks for keeping us up-to-date. She is just lovely!

  23. Oh, my goodness, I love her little face and her expression! Baby cheeks just slay me. There’s something about the look on their faces that just makes you wonder what they’re thinking. I love the idea of these monthly photos next to the pillow…one day she’ll be a young lady sitting in that chair! Congrats. She’s lovely. I will go hug my 15 month old now.

  24. She is PRECIOUS! And I love the use of the clippie as a pin! Was wondering if you could share the make of the grey chair? Love it.
