I recently found these gorgeous sugar flowers and leaves that I had bought during my trip to Kyoto in 2010. Needless to say—two years later—they're probably best not consumed…but they still had their shapes and colors fully intact, so I decided to use them to spruce up a carrot cupcake! Totally whimsical and fun… — Joy

Wow! How absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! The Japanese half of me is coming out…. bursting with colour with that touch of elegant decorativeness. I am in LOVE and feeling the JOY xoxo
Looks too good to eat anyway! Looks worthy of a spot on a shelf or in a picture frame 😀
I love these so much. And I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of shop you bought them in (grocery, department, cooking?). I’m headed to Japan next month and would love to pick something like these up. I’ll also take your Kyoto shopping map…Jill
Hi Jill!
I got them at the market in Kyoto (I think!)

Those gingko leaves are killing me! How about you put them in a tiny envelope marked “heart melters” and send them my way 🙂 …and while we’re on the subject, I found this beautiful neon-salmon and white striped vintage head scarf with gingkoes to match scattered along–it is very Oh Joy!
Those colors are just too beautiful!
