Jenis-mango-kiwi-cake

One of my weaknesses in life is ice cream. I've been getting over a cold and eating pints by the spoonful this week as it seems to be the cure to all my ailments. During this same week, I got to try Jeni's Super Pop Cakes collection {ice cream with cake mixed in!}, and I'm pretty much in love with the Mango Kiwi frozen yogurt with angel food cake mixed in. It's sweet, tart, and creamy—all accented by light and fluffy bits of cake…um, yes cake! And so worth it to have it shipped from Columbus, Ohio! And for those of us in Southern California, select flavors of Jeni's are now being carried at Gelson's and Bristol Farms markets…dangerous, yet awesome news… — Joy

  1. Oh girl, you and I share that same weakness… And just back from a run I’m feeling veerrry weak for this specific ice cream. Such a lovely picture.
Have we connected in blogland before? I am just drooling over your fab blog.

  2. Oh, amazing! I was so amazed, in fact, that I went to Jeni’s site to order some right away. But $40 as the cheapest shipping option? I’m not sure who can swing that! I totally understand it’s difficult to ship ice cream and was prepared to pay, but I’m not sure that I could justify spending almost as much on shipping the actual pints themselves cost (with the four-pint minimum order requirement). Is it always this expensive or is it because Mother’s Day is coming up?

  3. Kristina,
We have to ship 2nd Day Air to the west coast—it’s the only way to ensure that the ice cream arrives perfectly frozen. (There’s no Mother’s Day surcharge.)
If you’re in the SoCal region, you might try Gelson’s—they don’t the full flavor selection, but you won’t have to pay shipping…

  4. Thanks, Ryan. I hope I didn’t sound like too much of a curmudgeon! I’ll definitely check out the local stores – I’d just love to try the Mango Kiwi Cake flavor and am guessing that’s not carried in stores. But I’ll find a way!

  5. Oooh, yum! I don’t usually like Angel Food Cake, but this sounds so delicious! I wonder if my Whole Foods will start carrying them.

  6. I got to try her Goat Cheese with Red Cherries last week. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but by the time I finished the pint (not all in one sitting!) I was convinced that Jeni is a genius. I can’t wait to try some other flavors.

  7. Dangerous! And just so you know, I am NOT typically an ice cream person, but Carmela Ice Cream is now selling pints at the farmer’s market I go to on Saturdays. This week I picked up two pints because you’ve mentioned them so much. Ok, hello- soooooo good! I don’t know if I should thank you or curse you! The last two days I’ve been sneaking trips past the freezer- I’ve never done that before!

  8. we have a jeni’s here in Nashville, TN and it’s the most awesome icecream ever! i love her flavor combinations! love the west elm ice cream cup too! and ice cream is the perfect way to cool down in the heat and just good for any occasion to feel refreshed!
