Over the weekend, I was cleaning my closet and realized I have a lot of two things: striped dresses and gold shoes. How many of the same type of thing does one person need? Clearly, I have a problem.

Do you guys a lot of one type of thing in your closet? (Tell me I'm not the only one!)

  1. I think an abundance of gold shoes is a really good problem to have!
I have countless American Apparel deep-v neck t-shirts that I live in during the summer- they’re the perfect loungewear that don’t look too scrubby if you have to run out for something (and the Tri-Blend ones don’t show sweat which is crucial during a sticky NYC summer!)

  2. I love leather jackets and army jackets I have a bunch of both of those things. I think its ok though because those are the items you are drawn to and feel really comfortable and confident in. Why don’t have a variations of things you love.

  3. I have an abundance of stripes too, in different colour combinations! They just make me feel cheerful all day when I wear them. No dresses yet, but t-shirts and skirts…perhaps I need gold shoes to go with them……….:P

  4. I love that you have variety in the stripes, and it’s not just horizontal over and over again :). I used to only own purple and pink clothes, what the heck, haha. Now I think I have a wide variety. Only tees I have multiples of in different colors.

  5. I’d be happy to take that pair of Kate Spade Sequin Bow Heels off your hands, if it will help any 😉

  6. Stripes and polka dots are my overabundances! One time I walked up to the register and realized everything I was holding was either striped or polka dotted (or mint green AND polka dotted)! I hope those two things never go out of style! :\

  7. I recently did a casual look at my closet too and realized I own over a dozen striped shirts – they are at least all sorts of colors; pink, navy, black, gray – but SO many stripes!

  8. stripes and polka dots! and lots of brown suede shoes! thanks for pointing this out, i need to make a mental note to chill on buying both of these things.

  9. I went through a phase where I could not stop buying three quarter sleeve striped shirts. It got to the point where every time I went shopping I ended up in line with one in my hands, and would force myself to go put it back! I just love the clean, casual but preppy look of them. Luckily I learned to curb my addiction 🙂

  10. I reached a striped shirts peak in my closet and I’m only allowing myself to buy a top that’s not striped. It’s been nice to get out of my comfort zone. I also realized I have so many nude shoes!

  11. Pink shoes! Pink Ugg boots, 2 pairs of pink flats, light pink Coach ballet flats, pink floral Converse shoes & 2 pairs of pink Hello Kitty Vans shoes. All highly impractical but fun!

  12. My old employees used to call me a bag lady. I really don’t own that many but I’m always drawn to new ones when window shopping. And I’m right there with you on the stripe dresses. My mom even commented: don’t you already own something like that?

  13. Navy! anything! name it! from socks to sheer blouses! it takes about 4!!!!! laundry loads! now, take me to psychiatric help! but it makes me happy =)

  14. my current addictions are polka dots and stripes, though that addiction has been over the course of several years. i also can’t get enough of gold, particularly in glitter form! 🙂

  15. I have way too many camel color sweaters! I love that color and am always drawn to it. MY fav is a camel cashmere sweater from Jcrew. I wear it all year, even on cool summer nights!

  16. What I want to know is… where i that mint green floral dress from (to the right)?? It’s gorgeous! I have a lot of cardigans and polka dots… oddly, no polka-dot cardigan though. 🙂

  17. I have several pairs of gold shoes. I try to keep the addiction on lock, but they’re just so wonderful: a practical neutral PLUS sparkle. Yes and yes.

  18. The gold shoes are all so pretty!
I have a lot of black tops and black and dark blue skinny jeans.
Makeup-wise and accessory-wise: I have a lot of pink lipglosses and pink to magenta coloured sandals.

  19. Funny old thing, I’d been thinking the same thing. I looked in my wardrobe and thought I’d got so many stripey things: short dresses, long dresses, tops, blouses, even some stripey shoes. I do have quite a few polka dots too… Don’t have any gold shoes though

  20. I have hundreds of white t-shirts both long and short sleeve. I wear one almost every day in some form or fashion. Under a cardigan, under another tee, with a scarf, over a long sleeve t-shirt, sometimes double whites. Haha…the last thingi bought was a white t-shirt! 🙂

  21. I have 9 of the exact same black T-shirt. Yeah, I’d say I have a problem. The patterns on your dress look lovely!

  22. Every so often I buy a new shirt and find that I have to remind myself that people will notice if you wear the same exact shirt every day of the week. Then I promptly find it online and order it in no less than three more colors.

  23. did you have to custom order the gold vellies? On the site it says that they’re a Opening Ceremony exclusive, and the smallest size is like a women’s 7 or 8. I’m a size 5.

  24. I have a lot of stripes – dresses, shirts, and even some pants. They all seem to be black and white. I own a few ten too many plain white shirts.
My wardrobe seems to have a problem living in color.

  25. Lot of blue shirts, long cardigans and linen dresses. When I studied librarianship at the university, our professor showed us a picture with a lady typifying a stereotype of what people think that librarian look like. It was just for fun, but I liked what she wore! Grey dresses, long cardigan, and big glasses so it seems that I like to look like a librarian 🙂

  26. I am so relieved to know that I am not the only one who has like 50 black and white striped dresses. Literally they are the first things I look for when shopping. I have so many….it’s a problem I should probably seek help for. 😉

  27. I have way too much polka dots but they make me so happy! I have at least 4 or 5 pairs of shoes, a few hand bags and way too many tops and dresses. Heck even 3 pairs of polka dot pants. But if something as simple as a stripe or a polka dot makes you happy, why not? It’s beauty in the simple things, right? 🙂
