Sometimes I get so tied to my desk—I get in the work zone and forget to leave my office all day. So, a few weeks ago, I decided that on Friday mornings, I'd start to make a habit of going to visit a shop, showroom, or other inspiring location that I've had on my "must-visit" list. It's a way of forcing me to get away from the computer screen and get inspired by real things in real life. And after two of my friends, Bri and Amy, mentioned loving the new Marimekko store in Beverly Hills, it was time to pay a visit….
The visit couldn't have come at a more perfect time. I'm working on a new project, and it's always inspiring to surround yourself with brands who consistently create a unique point of view. Marimekko's textiles have been a longtime favorite, and a visit to one of their stores is always a treat.
And lucky me…there was a 40% off sale going on the day I stopped in, so I had to get this amazing dress. Yes, shopping for inspiration is kind of dangerous, too…

love the dress (and have loved marimekko forever!)
but, where are your shoes from? (looking for a great sandal…)
great dress! Fashion Mom!
Hey Joy, I’m going off subject but did you know that your Petal Pusher wallpaper is featured in the August issue of Psychologies magazine (UK)? It’s going to paper the world!
Oh my gosh, how amazing are all these patterns?! I love the apple print cushion especially.

I think I need to go here. Well I need to go to LA first – but then I need to go to this store. SO MANY CUTE THINGS. And the patterns, oh my goodness, the patterns.
Thanks for the eye candy!

I was in the BH Marimekko for a meeting a few weeks ago and was just dying over that dress! The store is amazing.
so much lovely color and pattern! thanks for sharing!
That dress was pretty much made for you 🙂 And that’s such a great way to start Fridays – especially if they always involve places like this store – so many gorgeous prints and colors!
Love, love, love Marimekko! And your sandals too!
So inspirational!
Marimekko designs are so crazy but so classic. My mom’s still got that fun truck print on bedding that we’ve had since my brother was a babe–and he’s now in his 30s!
Oh my! I love the little car pattern on the wall. Thanks for sharing. So inspiring!

Totally loving the dress you picked, and basically all the textiles in the third shot. Marimekko definitely has a recognizable and distinct presence!
I can scan it and email it to you if you like. PS Thanks for such a fantastic site – and Ruby is the cutest! Love the Friday photos x

Thank you so much for showing me Marimekko! I love their textiles! What a great discovery.
Also, I recognize that red flower pattern in photo #2! IKEA sold it and it covered my bed on my comforter and pillow cases throughout high school 🙂

I love how you solve an issue with a goal here. You’re such an inspiring, creative and awesome lady, Joy! Thanks for taking us with you.
Definitely loving your site. The colors on that dress is amazing! I’m sure it looks even better in person.

You should do a field trip of the Daiso store in Gardena. There are multiple Daiso’s, but Gardena’s is the best and biggest. I bought so many things there recently that they made me do 2 separate transactions! Tons of stuff you can buy for Ruby!
