Oh Joy / Ruby and Kittens

Before you guys get too excited, these are not our kittens. A couple weeks after our cat Lucy passed, we visited these kittens that our friend rescued, and it made Ruby super happy to know that these little guys are getting new homes soon. Thanks to your suggestions about helping a toddler understand the passing of a pet, we got her a book about a pet cat that passed away and a little stuffed animal that looks just like Lucy that she now loves to sleep with. It's helped so much, so thank you guys.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I saw her picture on the Zara facebook page, can’t quite see her face and there was no name, but I was so certain it was her. She already has such a distinctive cute style!
    Beautiful photos and story. 🙂

  2. oh these pictures are so darling!! loved seeing them on zara.com too 😉 so sweet that she sleeps with a toy that looks just like Lucy.

  3. Awww I’m so sorry that your cat isn’t with you guys anymore! My mother in law’s dog just got put to sleep because she had mad cancer, and it’s so sad that had to happen. 🙁 But I’m not trying to be a downer! It brings my in-laws comfort that they did a great job with her and did what was best for Molly (doggie). 🙂 Hopefully Ruby will know she did her best job with her cat!
And on a happy note, omgness…these kittens are…unreal….I just literally melted and wanted to go berzerk with the screen. Yea, I’m one of those “scary” excited people, hahaha. Have a blessed weekend!

  4. So sweet. Can I ask what book it was? Henry + Marie have been grieving since we lost our furry child Billy (a dog)…I was shocked that even at 19 months old they could be so affected by a loss.

  5. Hi Susan,
Its called Cat Heaven. I think there is a Dog Heaven one too 😉
I actually think for us the stuffed animal helped more and we told her that its from Lucy and she could hug it and hold it whenever she wanted to remember how much we loved Lucy. Good luck..I know its so hard!

  6. Those are adorable. I’ve lost two of my pets my cat at age 16th and a dog we adopted that died of a Canil disease three weeks after we got him.
My dog Kika is in the hospital after an emergency surgery. I hope she makes it trough, the doctor says we have to wait and see.

  7. Oooh, those kittens!
I have rescued many animals through the years, and my boy – Tomás – has unfortunately passed away last Christmas.
I find having kids playing with animals, from such a young age, is such an important step to build character and respect for other creatures. And also creates such joy – lovely!
