Dressing the Babe / Romp Around

Rompers are one of those clothing pieces that we often associate with kids. But I'm all about the one-piecer, too. They're super comfy and make a fun statement, so Ruby and I romped around downtown LA recently in a couple of our faves.

Dressing the Babe / Mama Style

This mama romper is crazy comfortable. It's pretty much like wearing PJ's except the fit is pretty flattering, has nice drape, and it can be dressed up with heels or booties.

Mama outfit / 1. Michael Stars black romper, 2. Hy Jewelry necklace, 3. Emerson Fry slides, 4. J.Crew raffia bracelet, 5. J.Crew cuff (25% off with code SHOPNOW).

Dressing the Babe / Kid Style

The one tip about rompers for kids that I have to mention is that they're best either with babies who wear diapers OR kids who are fully potty-trained. Rompers take a little more time to take off and put on, so I usually avoid them during the potty-training stage!

Babe outfit / 6. Little Minis ikat jumper, 7. Hy Jewelry necklace (mommy & me set), 8. Target metallic shoes.

Do you wear rompers for yourself, too? Or do you think they're best for kids?

  1. Awhe that is so cute! I love when mom and daughter dress all similar! Her’s is so cute and I love the necklace you paired it with. and then yours is sophisticated! See I love rompers when full pants. I think they look way more stylish and you could totally wear it to a professional setting, just throw a blazer on and you’re good to go! I have big thighs so finding a romper that looks great on me is a little tricky but it’s totally worth it when you find a good one!! Great post!!! Have a great day you two!!

  2. Hi, Joy. I really like rompers for kids and grownups. You both look very pretty in yours. It’s like wearing PJ’s? Then I want them!

  3. Hi Jennie!
I am 5’3” and I got the XS. It’s a little long on me so I blouse it more in the waist or you could just get it hemmed!

  4. I love rompers on my daughter, but she refuses to wear anything that she can’t get in and out of by herself. Except princess dresses. Huge, metallic, poofy dresses are exempt from the self-dressing rule.

  5. more fantastic l.a. murals! next time you are in philly, you might enjoy a philly mural tour. if they have one that is more kid oriented, ruby would probably love to ride around on the trolley.

  6. So cute, I love the mother daughter jewelry. Is the clothing/jewelry in these posts c/o (sent to you for free) or are these things you’d naturally choose for yourself and pay for? How do you nurse in a romper? (if you are nursing) ..

  7. Hi Chrissy,
I am nursing and I cant say rompers are meant for nursing! I wear this one a lot and I just have to pull it down and sit at home with it around my waist. Def not something Id wear for nursing in public but great for all other times 😉
As for the clothing, its a combo. Some pieces I own, some pieces have been given as gifts, and some are borrowed.
    Best!

  8. Oh, Ruby! How you have grown! You beautiful ladies are really rockin’ those rompers! 🙂
I love how Ruby looks more like you and Coco looks more like Bob. How fair! (Because I’ve seen families where the girls look only like the mom so the dad kinda looks out of place, so to speak…? Heehee.)

  9. Hi Joy. Where exactly is this mural? If love to snap a photo with my newborn here. Love the rompers. Thank you!

  10. I love rompers for me and also for my daughter but she hates them and I understand. Kids are less independent wearing rompers as they need help to get it off when they go to the bathroom and of course the cannot wear it to school because that would be torture…they always tell you they have to go last moment and with a romper…

  11. I think romper and jumpsuits are so cute, and I love how little thinking they require. It always weirds me out a little though to imagine that I have to be virtually naked every time I go to the bathroom–doesn’t mean I stop buying them though!

  12. I agree with Connie. Rompers are super cute for sure …but not helpful when toilet training ! The time it takes to get that thing off and not get it all over the floor of a public toilet would be too long and too late. Just a thought.
