  1. Thanks for this info, Joy! I especially appreciate how you mentioned to allow your hobby business grow before making the leap to do it full time; this creates less stress in the long run (i.e. I HAVE to sell x many items or we won’t eat! :)) Sharing this with all of my creative friends! 🙂

  2. THANK YOU for sharing this! I felt such a complete sense of confusion after graduation because I felt like there were simply too many avenues to follow. As someone who does like to do a little bit of everything, this totally hits home!

  3. Thank you so much for sharing your experience, your answers are certainly extremely valuable for people like me, that have so much questions on building my own business successfully! 🙂
I am an artist trying to sell my art globally through the internet, as much I enjoy to create I have to do so many different tasks as an independent artist, to sell online.
My question is: how to grow your brand on social media as an artist?

  4. Thank you Joy for sharing these great tips! This topic is a big struggle for me too so this is wonderful advice that hopefully can jumpstart into me actually making a decision on where I’d like to go with my business/career. Keep the video series coming! 🙂

  5. I love this series! I love the tip about making your hobby a side business and not completely banking on it…that is something I learned the hard way (but luckily I am able to feed myself!). It is better to have to give up your “day job” than to scrap together money for rent.

  7. Thanks for sharing this! That is a huge part of the message I like to share with people, and I think it’s really important that everyone understand how multi-faceted they are! Thanks for spreading the positive word 🙂

  8. Hi Joy!,
This is a very inspiring topic!, I just bought your book blog inc and I am loving it! thank you so much for sharing! I am feeling quite positive about my blog now… that has not happen for a while so thank you! 🙂

  9. What a lovely and helpful video, Joy! This is so perfect coming from an experienced person like you in your field. I’ve been struggling on what career path to take after migrating here in Canada last year. I left my teaching career (which I so love) back in the Philippines to be with my husband here, and now as a full-time mom, I am not sure if I still like to be a preschool teacher. I think the number #1 problem with me is I always find myself being sidetracked by so many things I see on Pinterest and other social media platform that I often forget to focus on doing what I really love. And number #2 I’m too scared to try new things out coz I don’t like to fail. I’m now subscribing to your YouTube channel so that when I find myself lost again I can just keep replaying your video, and also for your other helpful videos. Thanks so much. You’ve been an inspiration to me.

  10. Thank you for this! I am about to move and, in preparation for that transition, started a blog. It’s VERY new, but it gives me an anchor as I try to figure out exactly what I want to do in my new location. I appreciate your tips to help me make up my mind as I try to figure out exactly what to do..since I really do like to do so many things!

  11. Oh Joy! Your name is perfect as that’s exactly how I felt listening to this. Great advice, and inspirational, as I paused your video and then made my list. I’ve started my own blog in the last few weeks to chart my journey towards doing what I love so you could not have posted this at a better time. Now I’m gushing and I’m British and we just don’t do that. Thanks.

  12. I really appreciate this post. I have so many ideas in my head of what I want to do and never get a chance to truly assess what I’m good at. This is giving me that push that I’ve been needing for a long time. Thanks, Joy!

  13. Great advice Joy! To be successful, you must love what you’re doing. You must love your job. If you don’t love your job, maybe you should consider changing career path that will make you satisfy on everything that you do as early as possible because time is not in our hands.
