channeling mrs. roper…

In my monthly trips to the Rosebowl Flea Market, I've accumulated quite a few oversized caftans and channeling my inner Mrs. Roper! I'm a sucker for color and pattern so even though these pieces don't currently fit me, I had to get them (one was only $7!). I'm a "get it now and figure it out later" kind of person, clearly 😉

I'm taking the caftans to the tailor for a little nip and tuck and wondering what would you guys do with them if you were me? The Oh Joy team is headed to Palm Springs next month to celebrate Oh Joy's 11 year anniversary (woohoo!) and I'm excited to wear my tailored versions of these!

  1. So fun!! Love the colors, and the sheer one is also gorgeous! They’ll be perfect for palm springs 🙂 and congrats – 11 years is amazing!!

  2. these are fabulous finds! dress #1 – turn it into a slimmer midi dress with a belt or leave it long. also, you may want to think about changing the neckline by removing the tie or creating a lace-up neckline. dress #2 – turn it into a tunic and create 3/4 length sleeves. dress #3 – just hem it to sit above a pair of sandals!

  3. I love the sheer one. What a neat statement. And the other two are perfect to wear on those days you feel you need a pick me up color or pattern. What fun.

  4. The pattern of the first one is amazing! I would just have a seamstress turn it into a cute summer dress, you sure have enough fabric there 🙂
The second one is so old Skool glamour, love it! I would hem it to sit just above your ankle and belt it with a black leather belt. Little slip under it and you have a great outfit.
The 3rd one looks like it is a pretty good fit? I might reduce the width of it but you have a great beach cover up there.
    Great finds!

  5. I love caftains and the color is amazing! Don’t your dare cut them! Enjoy and get your Three’s Company Vibe on! I love wearing mine in Hawaii looking like I have not a care in the world.
I wish I lived in your area, I’d be at that Flea Market pronto! LOL

  6. Oh, goodness, if you still have these caftans laying around (the colorful ones) I’d definitely buy them from you.
