Culottes have been a very popular trend this summer as a fun option that looks like a cross between pants and a skirt. As we head into fall, we're loving culottes as a great transition piece we could bring into the fall. Here's how the whole Oh Joy team wore their culottes…

Angie, our designer, went graphic in black and white with pops of color and metallic in her accessories. Angie's wearing Anthropologie culottes, ASOS sandals, Danskin bodysuit, and a DIY vintage scarf necklace.

Jess, our crafting assistant, is keeping it cool and casual in ASOS culottes (similar and similar), ASOS tank, Madewell sandals (similar), Bauble Bar necklace, Noonday Collection beaded bracelet, and Noonday Collection gold bracelet. Because Jess is 4'11", she did need to have the length of her pants hemmed to hit mid-calf.

Julia, our Creative Producer & Stylist, is making a statement with these floral culottes with straps by ASOS, a simple Nordstrom tee, and Nino suede mules. She didn't need to add jewelry to this outfit since the straps add a lot of interest to the outfit.

Courtney, my Executive Assistant, is playing it cool and summery in these chambray culottes from Target (similar), Gap tank blouse (similar), Lucky Brand sandals, and chunky necklace by Noonday.

Joy, that's me…I'm wearing plaid culottes by Ace & Jig, a bodysuit by Thief & Bandit, and Marais sandals. These pants almost look like a skirt when I wear them which makes my outfit look dressier than it really is, yet still so comfy!

A few things we learned about wearing culottes:

1. Culottes tend to look great with a fitted tee (or even a bodysuit) underneath.

2. Whether your wear a tee or blouse, tucking the top into the pants help to define the smallest part of your waist to help contrast with the looser pant style.

3. Since the pants can hit anywhere between mid-calf to ankle, there can be some flexibility in the length which makes them wearable for a variety of heights.

What do you guys think? Have you been rocking culottes this summer?

  1. Yeah, can’t say these work for my body. But I love these dressing the team posts. Since fall is around the corner, maybe you can do a blazer/fall coat edition.

  2. Been doing culottes for years. Love them so much! I only have super wides, though. Love when they’re shorts length, too!

  3. How wonderful to see all of the Noonday Collection pieces! I’m a huge fair trade advocate AND sell Noonday to spread the word of ethical production + help fund our adoption of our little girl; a big part of Noonday’s mission (aside from employing women in vulnerable communities!) is to help adopting families with the huge costs associated with adopting! I’ve been following you since 2007, and now I love you even more! Thanks!
