styling with mirrors

There's an old interior design trick where everyone used mirrors to make a room look bigger. Remember those floor to ceiling mirrors that were all over homes in the 90's?! We love mirrors and what they can do for a space, but we like the idea of using them for areas that need extra interest, in addition to serving a functional role when you need a mirror near by. Here are three ways to style with mirrors…

styling with mirrors

1. Cluster them in a corner. For those corners where a piece of artwork is too big or doesn't make sense, a cluster of a few smaller mirrors works well.
We love these rattan mirrors because they feel sculptural and whimsical, and the rattan adds a nice dose of texture.

2. Place one in an entryway. Full-length mirrors aren't just for behind your door or in the bedroom. A great place to include a mirror is in your entryway area so that you can get a quick peek at a wrinkled skirt or peanut butter on your blouse right before you walk out the door for the day.

3. Make it part of a gallery wall. A fun way to style a small mirror is to mix it into a gallery wall. The mirror could be the focal point above a dresser to serve as a functional piece. And then add prints of different sizes around it to make one eclectic, but cohesive, wall of art.
