My favorite pieces of clothing are ones that are both comfortable AND cute. Because—let's be honest—some things we wear are highly uncomfortable and we just suck it up because we love the way it looks. But now that I have to be on-the-go and active with my kids waaaay more often, I need more pieces that I can move in while still looking somewhat pulled together. One of my favorite clothing brands—Sonnet James—just released a ton of new pieces made specifically to play in (that happen to also be really cute). So, today, I am showing off a few of my favorite pieces with you…
This bubblegum pink dress is super flattering while completely stretchy and comfortable. I could dress it up with heels or go totally casual with flats or sandals.
THIS floral playsuit is what my dreams are made of. It's a statement piece but insanely comfortable like very fancy pajamas that look chic and are not actually pajamas! I love that it makes a bold statement worn together, or you can wear them separately and totally maximize on more looks.
Here is a polka dot version of the same playsuit which you really can move around it and get the things done that need to get done! Pair them with flats or heels to dress up or dress down.
And finally, this long-sleeved dress is made of the softest material ever and looks great on its own or layered with a jacket. I have worn this outfit to work many times, and I love how light and soft is is.
The key to me with pieces like these is their versatility. To get your worth out of them, you should feel like you can wear them in a ton of different ways, with different accessories and different shoes. Dress them up or down, but you're still very much comfortable and ready for the day regardless of how you style the piece.
P.S. Especially for Oh Joy readers, Sonnet James is offering 20% off everything through Friday, June 9th. Use code OHJOY. Also, stay tuned for a VERY SPECIAL giveaway on my Instagram tonight where we will be giving away 5 dresses to one very lucky reader!

You always find the best backdrops.
Where is that fun colorful mural located?
Thanks Rena!

Joy- do you have these altered? I wear petite sizes and was wondering whether you altered the fit, specifically the length.
Thanks!
Divya
Hi Divya,
I didn’t alter any of these. I am 5’3”. I got XS in all except in the Playsuit a XXS since it’s cut roomy.
Joy
I wondered the same thing for such a long time too as I’m also short (5’2″) but I finally took the plunge last year and ordered XS. My dresses are all a little longer on me than I think they’re supposed to be but not so long that they look too big. After the first dress I ended up going back for three more in different colors 🙂
Lovely outfits! They look super comfy and stylish. 🙂
Hi Sally,
Good to hear! The nice thing is that if it’s just a length issue, the simple hem is easy and inexpensive at the dry cleaners.
But glad they worked out for you. I live in these dresses!
Joy
Aww!! Such cute outfits!!
So glad you like! 😉

Hi Joy!!
I’m a student in college, but you have been my fashion icon since I was a sophomore in high school :”) (I literally brought your first aid kit Target collab with me!!) I bought the Sonnet James playsuit just last week, and it’s honestly my favorite piece in my closet right now. Just wanted to say that you’ve been such a role model for me and that I appreciate everything you have to share with people all over the world. Also, werk! You look amazing in all of these!
Hi Emily,
Thank you for your super kind note! It really made my day 🙂
So glad you love all those pieces!
Joy
I adore the rainbow strappy shoes in the first set of photos! Do you mind sharing where they’re from?
Hi Joy
Love this piece.
Off topic! May I ask what kind of bike that is? It looks like a cruiser but I see it has brakes which is exactly what I’m looking for. We just started to teach my daughter to ride and I hate my bike!!
Thank you
Marsha
(PS. We used to be passing ships and say hello at dance class on Saturday mornings! I hope you’re all well.)
The mural wall of you two with the binoculars – are a Wes Anderson dream! So so so adorable!
Thanks Jess!!
