Last year we created a series called Oh Joy Color Adventures, and we had so much fun styling with different color combinations each month. It's challenged us to want to show you more ways to bring more joy into your space. So this year, we've created a spin-off and calling it…PATTERN ADVENTURES! Often people are hesitant about bringing pattern into the home and into their wardrobes because they don't know exactly how to make it work. So, each month this year, we'll focus on a new pattern and show you how to bring it to life. This month? We're mad for plaid…

Plaid is a great statement pattern to add to any room, especially in the winter. We love adding bold patterns to rooms where you entertain—like a dining room. The wallpaper and rug work together because they are different scales of plaid and compliment each other rather than clash. We went totally bold with the plaid using removable wallpaper. Since it's such a dramatic pattern to put on your walls, we wanted to use something that wasn't permanent.

We mixed the casual plaid with the more sophisticated marble and wood dining table and the navy velvet and gold chairs. With the bold use of pattern, you can go more simple with your tableware. We accented solid pale pink plates with a simple, patterned napkin.

When it comes to art, go with one large piece. It adds to the large scale wallpaper without being too busy!
