This month's Pattern Adventures is all about…novelty prints! Novelty prints, or as some people call them "conversation prints", are anything that have a motif that is a bit more quirky, playful, and themed (think palm trees, lemons, ice cream, etc). We were inspired by the fresh take on novelty prints this past spring where line drawings of faces graced the runways and retail floors. So, we created a bedroom full of figural novelty prints that incorporated a sophisticated palette of nude, green, blush, teal, and hints of black. Take a look at how to create this in your own home…

Novelty prints are super fun to style with because there are so many different prints to pick from, but they can also be get very bold very fast. So today, we're showing you how you can style a bedroom with mixing and matching novelty prints without it feeling over the top. We loved the idea of toning down the colors in this room since we're using a very bold and fun wallpaper…

Wallpaper — I love this abstract face wallpaper. The large scale makes it feel abstract when you're up close, and I love the fun and playful lines. We kept the wallpaper on just one accent wall so we could add in other novelty prints without overwhelming this bedroom.

Accent Pieces — Accent pieces are a great way to ease your way into novelty prints! Start with bedding and/or pillows in a fun pattern. You can also add in other elements in gold (always), like a sleek lip hanger and swan figurines for a playful detail.

Plants — To help balance out the space and add in softer, organic elements, we used lots of greenery! We sprinkled a few throughout on the dresser and then created a small "plant garden" in the corner with plants of various sizes and types.
