It's a baby boom over here at the Oh Joy! office! My designer extraordinaire, Angie, is pregnant with her third baby! She is my right-hand lady when it comes to designing prints and patterns for all our Oh Joy products, helping me to concept products, and designing all the graphics for our brand's collateral. I am looking for a talented graphic/surface pattern designer to help fill-in while Angie is on maternity leave for a few months beginning at the end of September. This is an amazing opportunity to work at our studio, build your design portfolio, and get to be part of designing and creating so many different things. Here are more details if you or someone you know is interested…
Duties include:
-Working with Joy on design/production/creation of Oh Joy! products
Qualifications:
-Minimum of three years experience as a graphic designer with advanced knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
-Ability to take art direction well and translate that into designs, patterns, and illustrations (both hand-drawn and digitally-drawn)
-A strong sense of composition and typography
-Illustration and animation skills are a plus
(NOTE: If your experience is more in graphic design OR surface pattern design—and not both—please make that clear in your application. We will still consider you, but want to understand your strengths.)
This is so exciting! My husband is a graphic designer and I’d like to see if he has the biggest opportunity to work for you guys! I will have him fill out an application.
Thank you!
-Angel
Thanks Angel!

I’m an illustrator and graphic designer in San Diego. If anything changes and you’re open to remote work, I would love the opportunity to work with you!
I wish I had the creativity to be a designer. I would love working as one but maybe I have much to learn first!
If you ever need a freelance surface pattern designer / typographer I’d love to work with you! I have been following for many years now and am forever inspired by your products and collaborations.
All the best!

Oh Joy! What a great opportunity! Your studio sounds like a super awesome and creative environment. Reminds me of the many happy years I had working at Hable Constructions. Wishing I lived in LA! 🙂
Best of luck finding the right candidate! xLlubav
